Well, you can chalk up another example of geek culture either being full-on embraced by the mainstream or possibly already on the downturn, depending on your stance on nü-metal rap-rock.

If you're a fan of "Gundam" and Linkin Park, you're gonna want to sit down for this one, because as reported by the Anime News Network yesterday, not only will the band be providing the theme song for the upcoming "Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme Vs." arcade game, they'll also be packaging a limited edition "Gundam" model kit (an HGUC 1/144 RX-78GP01Fb Gundam GP01Fb Full Vernian "Linkin Park Edition" if you really gotta know) with the deluxe edition of their upcoming album, "A Thousand Suns." The album drops on September 14, but according to ANN, the limited edition box set won't be released until November 24 (and no word on if that will be a Japan-only release or if fans will be able to get a copy stateside).Fans of Linkin Park are well aware by now of the band's fanboy side when it comes to the giant robots, most notably with their video for "Somewhere I Belong," and while we know "Gundam" fans can be quite the rabid bunch as well, let's hope no one goes to any extreme measures in the hopes of obtaining this kit.
