Future advertising executives of the world, take notice: the official Instagram account for 20th Century Fox’s upcoming Logan is how you build up to the release of a movie. For the past few months, Logan has released a series of black and white photos that tease fragments of the mutant-free world inhabited by Wolverine and Charles Xavier. Rather than simply share images found in the final movie, the Instagram account represents a collection of photos meant to keep its social media audience engaged leading up to the film’s release. Think of it as an art installation for dedicated fans of the X-Men franchise.

Supply

In the most recent photo titled “Supply” (via ScreenRant), we see a table strewn with medical supplies and about a thousand different Instagram comments trying to sort out what the photos might be in connection to. Is this the medical procedure that Logan underwent to obtain his adamantium claws? Were these tools used to help ensure that X-23 manifested Logan’s healing powers? Does Professor X need a chemical boost to maintain control of his mutant telepathy? Like everything else featured on the Logan Instagram account, it’s not about knowing, it’s about passing the time, and all will (hopefully) be revealed when we finally have a chance to see the movie.

While no official synopsis for the film has been released, one does appear on the IMDb page that seems to be a synthesis of information gleaned from the first trailer and the plot points shared by websites like TheWrap. It’s probably as fair a starting point as any:

Set in the future, Logan and Professor Charles Xavier must cope with the loss of the X-Men when a corporation led by Nathaniel Essex is destroying the world leaving it to destruction, with Logan’s healing abilities slowly fading away and Xavier’s Alzheimer’s forcing him to forget. Logan must defeat Nathaniel Essex with the help of a young girl named Laura Kinney, a female clone of Wolverine.

Regardless of whether that is mostly true or only kind of true, we do know that the film will return Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart, as well as franchise newcomers star Boyd Holbrook, Richard E. Grant, and Stephen Merchant. The film will hit theaters on March 3, 2017.
