A catalogue of Marvel Comics merchandise from 1975 has revealed that the people of the ancient world once held Stan Lee in such high esteem, they would dress themselves in clothing adorned with his visage, grey temples, spectacles and all. The curious pamphlet was unearthed by Andertoons proprietor Mark Anderson in just the latest of his many fascinating excavations. The coolest thing about the Marvel catalogue is that each piece of merchandise is illustrated, rather than photographed, and some are pitched by Spider-Man himself. Among them, neck ties, Stan Lee t-shirts and rock opera/concept album Spider-Man: Rock Reflections of a Superhero. Here are some highlights from the catalogue, which you can download in full as a free PDF from Andertoons.
