‘Marvel NOW WHAT!?’ #1 Brings TV Comics To Superhero Comics

The Daily Show’s Wyatt Cenac, 30 Rock’s Scott Adsit, Nicki & Sara Live’s Sara Schaefer and The Sarah Silverman Program’s Brian Posehn are among the TV funny people contributing to Marvel NOW WHAT!?, a superhero comedy special going on sale in August. Featuring a self-mocking cover by the reliably excellent and always funny Skottie Young (variant cover artist of every Marvel comic book ever), the book features new artwork by ComicsAlliance faves Eric Canete (The Rocketeer Adventures, TRON: Legacy) Colleen Coover (Bandette), Steve Lieber (Superior Foes of Spider-Man) and Patrick Oliffe (a criminally underrated but truly great run on that old Booster Gold book from a few years ago that was so good I’m compelled to type out this obnoxiously long parenthetical about it).

This is the kind of outside-the-box creative roster we like to see Marvel, and we look forward to the first preview pages depicting some of these appealingly weird stories:  Captain America getting catfished; the “Intervention” of the Watcher; and a marriage between Storm and Thor. Good heavens.
