Captain America’s Soviet Counterpart Red Guardian Pops into ‘Marvel Vs. Capcom 3′

In addition to its roster of 30 and counting playable characters, fans can count on scads of bonus looks in February's Marvel Vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds via re-skins of the game's heroes and villains. Spider-Man's Civil War Iron Spider outfit and some other decos have already made the rounds online, and in this weekend's special MvC3 holiday trailer, one of Captain America's Soviet counterpart Red Guardian made his preview debut.The Red Guardian skin looks pretty imposing on Cap as he battles Resident Evil's Wesker in the trailer, with a dramatic shield-wielding combo. This particular version of the Red Guardian seems like something of a fusion of costumes sported over the course of the hero/villain legacy. It seems to most resemble the duds worn by the Black Widow's former husband Alexei Alanovich Shostakov and the fourth RG Josef Petkus, but there's been a dozen of these guys, so feel free to pick a favorite. Considering the secondary nature of the characters in the game, it's not particularly certain that a firm identity will be pinned down.
