Marvelman Fans ‘Kimota’ Tribute Artwork Into Existence

Marvel Comics’ own tribute to Marvelman hits stores this week in the form of “Marvelman Family’s Finest” #1, the first volume in a series of vintage pre-Alan Moore/Neil Gaiman reprints. Legal challenges and ownership questions have kept the hero out of new books for quite some time, but no one has stood in the way of fan art.

A quick trip over to DeviantArt will show you that the Marvelman/Miracleman homage scene is alive and well among artists, and whether you’re looking for the Miracleman/Captain Marvel team-up that’s not likely to occur anytime soon, an anime infused Miracleman/”Soylent Green” tribute or even a Mickey Mouse guest appearance as MarvelMouse, it’s all been done.

So consider yourself fully equipped to enjoy everything but the Marvelman stories of Alan Moore and Neil Gaiman in official reprints now. In the meantime, we can all keep combing the Internet, and perhaps we’ll find some unofficial Marvelman Alan Moore/Neil Gaiman homage fan fiction riffs to float on until their stories get re-released for real.
