Mondo Debuts Becky Cloonan’s Manga-Inspired ‘Ghost In The Shell’ Prints
Ghost In The Shell is on a lot of people's minds right now, and while the upcoming Scarlett Johansson-starring Western cinematic adaptation is garnering its fair share of controversy it has made people re-evaluate and reappraise their love for Masamune Shirow's classic manga. To celebrate the series, Mondo has teamed up with Kodansha Comics and Gotham Academy and Southern Cross' Becky Cloonan for a pair of exclusive prints, timed to go on sale at some point today.
The two are both 18"x24" screened prints and come signed and hand numbered by Becky Cloonan. The regular version is limited at 275 copies, retailing at $45. The more exclusive version is a "glow-in-the-dark" variant of Major Motoko Kusanagi which will be on sale for $65, limited to 150 copies. The two prints will be on sale today, March 14, at a random time to be announced via Mondo's Twitter and can be purchased via mondotees.com.
Here's the official word from Mondo about the prints:
In partnership with Kodansha Comics, tomorrow we will have two incredible new posters for the classic Kodansha manga GHOST IN THE SHELL by Becky Cloonan. Quite simply, Becky’s rendering of Public Security Section 9 member Major Motoko Kusanagi is gorgeous and we couldn’t be more proud of the end result. In addition to the regular version, there will also be a Glow in the Dark variant version available.
The posters will go on sale tomorrow (3/14) at a random time via mondotees.com.
