The silent battle of superiority between "Cat People" and "Dog People" has just been won with Cartoon Hangover's release of the Bee and PuppyCat trailer. Neither dog nor cat, but perhaps both simultaneously, Natasha Allegri's adorable hybrid may just be the ultimate pet. That's mere speculation for now, but we'll all know soon enough when PuppyCat and its human companion begin captivating those who favor furry friends of any variety on July 11.

Known around these parts as the creator of Adventure Time's gender-swapped protagonists Fionna and Cake, and the talent behind Boom! Studios' corresponding six-issue F&C miniseries, fans should be stoked to get their first good look at Allegri's original animated webseries. It's got an unemployed heroine with cool sweaters, magical realism (or... real magicism?) and a haunting meow language.

Here's how CH describes the show:

Bee, a reluctant hero, becomes entangled in the adventures of a puppy (...or is he a cat?) as they travel between reality and the void of Fishbowl Space. Created by Natasha Allegri, character designer and storyboard artist for Adventure Time. We can neither confirm nor deny the autobiographical nature of Bee & PuppyCat.

Personally I'm less concerned about PuppyCat's exact species and more curious to find out if it's related to Speedy Cerviche or any of the other Samurai Pizza Cats. Dude looks good in a bell.

Considering how well CH's Bravest Warriors has fared as an all-ages ongoing comic book series at Boom! and Allegri's experience working with the publisher, Bee and PuppyCat seems like a strong candidate to similarly take the comics plunge at some point. Perhaps fans will hear more about this possibility closer to when the cartoon arrives in July?
