Xenomorphs. Yautja. Two deadlier species the universe has never known. As the big bads behind the the Aliens and Predator franchises, these creatures have terrorized just about every corner of the galaxy in the known expanses of space. With that kind of reach, the two were bound to meet on more than once occasion, and humanity would almost always pay the price. Though there have been a few feature films that have focused on this rivalry, the Aliens vs. Predator tales that have comprised most of the history between the two warring races have been told in graphic form.

The adventures began back in the early '90s with Dark Horse, which has been the comic book home to both franchises for decades. The crossovers were such a hit that Kenner, which had the license for both franchises in action figure form, followed suit by matching the alien races against one another in its toy line.

It's been some years since Kenner held the rights to either Alien or Predator, but current rights-holder NECA has been steadily paying homage to the Kenner Predator era with a few different releases. Soon, it will be venturing into Kenner's Alien line as well, but to kick things off, NECA is releasing a two-pack through Toys 'R Us commemorating the original Kenner set.

Now if you recall, those action figures used to come with mini-comics from Dark Horse. They weren't necessarily amazing, but as a kid, getting free comics with a toy was always a plus. The original Kenner release was packed with a comic story titled "The Ultimate Battle," and to once again show just how faithfully the creative team at NECA is putting its own spin on these classic figures, the company has redone a few pages from that original tale. The difference is, this time it's merely a selection of pages from the one from way back when, and the images have been recreated using photography of NECA's actual figures.

NECA released the pages, shot and compiled by in-house photographer Stephen Mazurek, online to all today in advance of the two-pack figure set's release. You can check out all the pages below, as well as a YouTube video that shows the original pages and panels from the Kenner mini-comic for comparison.

The Aliens vs. Predator two-pack will be available exclusively at Toys 'R Us, and has already sold out online. You'll still be able to find it in-store in the coming days and weeks for $43.99.
