‘Neon Genesis Evangelion’ Biker Shorts

As hard as I try to remember (and search on YouTube), I can’t recall a single scene in the original “Neon Genesis Evangelion” anime depicting Eva Unit 01 pilot Shinji Ikari tooling around Tokyo-3 on a bicycle. It’s a shame too, because his angry German gal pal and that shy clone of his dead mother would have totally checked out his emotionally damaged posterior in these rad biker shorts.

Produced by Media Magic, these anime-inspired latex shorts are the latest in the “Evangelion Bike Project” line, which includes two bikes, two helmets and now, these bad boys.Fans curious about the products’ authenticity needn’t worry, all releases are under the watchful eye of Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, the character designer of Gainax’s original “Evangelion” anime and Hideaki Anno and Khara’s ongoing rebuild of the series.

The shorts are currently available for order in Japan, but I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled for a United States release. I’m pretty sure the Absolute Terror field I’d generate in this getup could withstand a non-nuclear explosion.
