If you haven’t heard of Luke Cage, the first official clip from Netflix’s next Defenders series should get you up to speed the easy way. If criminals haven’t heard of Luke Cage, well, let’s just say they’re finding out the hard way.

Marvel’s Netflix Luke Cage surprisingly dropped a first clip from the new series a month from its premiere, albeit as a scene some of us caught after Daredevil Season 2. This time uses a bit more dialogue and action, however, as Luke introduces himself to thugs in a boxing gym, tossing and carrying them around like toys.

Says the official synopsis:

After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage (Mike Colter) becomes a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But he is soon pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city – forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury.

Netflix’s Luke Cage will feature among its supporting cast Sons of Anarchy vet Theo Rossi as “Shades” Alvarez, alongside Mahershala Ali’s Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes, Alfre Woodard’s Mariah Dillard, Erik LaRay Harvey’s Diamondback, Frank Whaley’s Detective Rafael Scarfe and Simone Missick’s Misty Knight. Additionally, Rosario Dawson is confirmed to her reprise her role as Claire Temple for a more significant arc.

We’ll also likely meet Iron Fist toward the end of the season as well, but stay tuned for more news of Luke Cage’s September 30 premiere!
