The Flash Season 2 has plenty of questions left to answer as we head into the final May episodes, though Arrow fans in particular are eager for a look at Katie Cassidy back in action as the Earth-2 Black Canary, or the sinister “Black Siren.” Now, an “Invincible” synopsis and word from the cast teases some “morbid shock,” while Wally West may get his own speedy hero before long.

Granted, we’ll have to wait until next Tuesday’s “Rupture” to see whether or not Barry regains his speed, and hang out with Kevin Smith a bit after that, the first synopsis for May 17's “Invincible” outing has arrived, returning the departed Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance’s Earth-2 counterpart for the penultimate episode:

KATIE CASSIDY GUEST STARS AS BLACK SIREN

After Zoom (guest star Teddy Sears) unleashes an army of Earth-2 meta-humans on Central City, Barry (Grant Gustin) is shaken when he sees their leader is the Black Canary’s Earth-2 doppelganger, the Black Siren (guest star Katie Cassidy). Meanwhile, Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) takes to the streets to help The Flash stop the meta-humans, which worries Joe (Jesse L. Martin). Iris (Candice Patton) and Henry (guest star John Wesley Shipp) are concerned about Barry taking on Zoom.

As to how #TeamFlash reacts to seeing their former ally in a villainous guise, Carlos Valdes tells Entertainment Weekly:

There’s a little bit of a morbid shock, because the characters have an awareness to the fact that Laurel Lance is dead. That death had some effect on these characters in this world. So to see Black Siren, more than anything, is a shock to the senses. To know that someone relatively close to you is dead and to see a version of them still alive would be harrowing and jarring for anyone. There’s a bit of a disturbance there in terms of seeing her like that again.

Also worth noting is the synopsis’ emphasis on Wally West aiding Barry in the battle against Zoom’s metahumans, an oddly heroic feat for a young collegiate without any super-powers. Might the inevitable return of Barry’s speed via mini-particle accelerator bring about some unintentional speedy consequences? Could Wally take quick steps toward his Flash-y comic destiny, just as Colton Haynes’ Roy Harper did in Arrow Season 2?

While we wait, check out the latest trailer for “Rupture” below, and stay tuned for more on the final Flash Season 2 episodes.
