Last year Mark Waid unleashed the wrath of a superhero-turned-villain upon an unsuspecting fictional world, cementing his reputation as a cold-blooded comic book writer. According to an official announcement from Boom! Studios, however, the writer/editor may be changing his ways by teaming up with artist Neal Edwards for "Incorruptible," a new series that puts a former super villain on the road to recovery.

Here's Boom! Studios' official synopsis:

"Incorruptible" showcases super villain Max Damage, who had an epiphany the day The Plutonian destroyed Sky City. That day, when The Plutonian turned his back on humanity, Max Damage decided to step up. Now Max Damage has changed his name to Max Daring and turned from his formerly selfish ways to become... Incorruptible. The flip side to this year's break-out smash hit "Irredeemable," examining the hard, difficult road to changing your ways and making a difference in the world...

Waid's explored a bit of this territory writing various incarnations of Marvel's "Thunderbolts," but it should be interesting to look at reform through the more focused eyes of a standalone creator-owned series rather than a team book.

Expect the book in stores this December with covers by John Cassaday ("Planetary") and Tim Sale ("Batman: Haunted Knights").
