Iron Circus Comics, the publisher of, among other things, Smut Peddler, is currently running a Kickstarter campaign for another anthology called New World. New World is a fantasy/sci-fi anthology about what happens when cultures meet. The campaign is more than 200% funded, but there are still some great rewards for backers who may find this topic intriguing, and higher totals for the campaign can lead to bonuses for the creative teams.

As the campaign winds down, Iron Circus has provided ComicsAlliance with this exclusive preview of the first 10 pages of the story "Hosts," by Sophie Goldstein and Carl Antonowicz.

Here's what the publisher has to say about the project:

New World is a fantasy/sci-fi comics anthology about culture clash. The included stories cover themes like colonization, imperialism, conquest, assimilation, and even extinction. Organized by C.Spike Trotman of Iron Circus Comics, New World is the publisher's fourth anthology project, after 2014's horror anthology The Sleep of Reason and the staggeringly successful Smut Peddler collections of 2012 and 2014.

This volume features 25 stories by 30 different creators, including Zach Weinersmith (Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal), Matt Howarth (Those Annoying Post Brothers), Carla Speed McNeil (Finder, No Mercy), and more. Funding via Kickstarter will not only help bring the book to print, but pad the paychecks of contributing artists in a bonus model originated by Iron Circus and now used nearly universally in Kickstarter anthology projects.

We're nearly 200% funded, have hit $250 artist bonuses (soon to be $300!), have a little over a week left, and we've got a limited number of hardcovers and variant covers by Benjamin Dewey (The Tragedy Series, Tooth & Claw) available.
