Outside the Lines: Robots Who Ask for Directions

In an experiment that seems pulled from the plot of Wall-E, German scientists created a mobile robot that was programmed to ask for directions, told it to meet them at a location a mile away, and put it outside to see what happened. The robot -- who made it to its destination! -- asked helpful humans to point it in the right direction, and said "thank you" before whirring away. Watch the video below:
