I'm not sure how they're doing it --- heck, I'm not sure how it's even possible --- but somehow, the CW's upcoming Riverdale TV show just keeps getting weirder. As we've already seen, the show's based on Archie Comics (with a pilot written by Archie's chief creative officer, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa) but with a twist that finds Riverdale's favorite teens harboring dark secrets, like a mysterious "arrangement" that's keeping an Adderall'd up Betty Cooper on the RHS cheerleading squad, and whatever it was that caused Archie and Jugehad to stop being best friends.

This week, though, the @ArchieComics Twitter account is posting some new pictures from the set, and we've gotten our first glimpse at a version of Pop's Chock'lit Shoppe that looks like it was imported straight from the set of Twin Peaks.

The reveal comes at the end of a chain of tweets that started with this one, in which the Riverdale Register --- a small-town newspaper traditionally owned by Reggie Mantle's family --- reports on the opening of a new café in town. That's the kind of news that you'd expect from a sleepy hamlet like Riverdale, but if you look closely, you can see that this is somehow bigger news than the other front-page headline: "DEVASTATING GAS LEAK LEADS TO EXPLOSION, INJURING 10."

Considering Archie's working at his dad's construction firm, I think it might be safe to say that his traditional klutziness might be taking on a darker edge.

We also get a look at the Riverdale Police Department's seal...

Which, fittingly enough, includes a river and a dale. Imagine how different things would be if they'd called the town Roadbridge instead.

Finally, we get to Pop's...

...and folks, if Archie Andrews is harboring a dark secret, I can only imagine what horrors Pop Tate has gotten up to underneath that ominous neon. Legally speaking, if you call it "Chock'lit," it could be anything, up to and including human flesh.

This show is going to be bananas.
