Everyone loves comic book trivia, but with decades of comics behind, there’s always some new obscure fact to learn. That’s why ComicsAlliance is going deep into the minutiae of your favorite names in comics in our continuing video series. You think you know comics? Well, here’s a few things you might not know!

This week, we're all waiting for the man with the bag, Santa Claus! But you don't have to wait, faithful YTYKC viewer, because Santa can be found within the confines of this very video. Santa Claus has been in comics for more than twenty years longer than Superman, and in that time, he has teamed up with all the classic characters and even battled more than a few. This video takes a look at the history of Santa in comics, including his appearances in DC Comics, Marvel Comics, and various independent publishers.

Show notes:

  • Many classic stories from Santa Claus Funnies are collected in The Great Treasury of Christmas Comic Book Stories, which I highly recommend.
  • You can read (almost) all the stories starring Santa's daughter Jingle Belle here.
  • Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore's take on Santa Claus first appears in Battle Pope vol 3, which can be found here.
  • Klaus, Grant Morrison and Dan Mora's origin of Santa, can be found here.
  • Sleigher: The Heavy Metal Santa Claus, which is exactly what it sounds like, can be found here.
  • Krampus!, the tale of the Christmas devil being bound to the service of the Secret Society of Santas, can be found here.
