Sean Murphy wants to take on six up-and-coming art students as apprentices next year, but he needs a little extra money to do it.

That's why he and his wife Colleen have launched a Kickstarter to raise some educational funds. But the apprenticeships aren't all the money will go to; it will also fund the production of a 100-page book called Cafe Racer, with seven vignettes by Murphy and his students.

The stories in Cafe Racer will focus on a half-Japanese World War II refugee who gets into England's motorcycle racing community. The book will also feature art by other notable comic artists, including Dave Johnson, Andrew Robinson, Eric Canete, Dan Panosian and Matteo Scalera.

No need to worry about whether the book will be produced or the program will happen. Murphy has already exceeded his $15,000 goal. Still, there are likely some stretch goals yet to come, and there are some pretty cool rewards. For $5,000 you could name Murphy's art school. Other rewards include a cameo in one of Murphy's comics, original art, prints, signed copies of the book, and Skype calls.

And hey, it's educational.
