Judging from the cover to Ape Entertainment's upcoming "Shrek" #1, the core selling points seem to be family farting and animal abuse.

I confess, I haven't been able to make it all the way through a Shrek film since the original, so I have to ask: Did something happen in the last sequel to make them embrace their more murderous ogre tendencies? I mean, Donkey could get a little annoying, but death by physical fumigation seems a little harsh. Then again, that's why ogres have layers. Murderous, farting layers.

Hopefully the Free Comic Book Day issue will fill in my blanks on the matter before "Shrek" #1 arrives in stores and "Shrek Forever After" hits theaters. Otherwise I might have to actually sit through "3 Shrek, 3 Furious."
