When Sideshow Collectibles announced it would be creating a series of Premium Format Figures based on DC Comics heroes and villains back in 2011, fans were stoked at the sight of a highly detailed Joker. Two years into the Sideshow/DC team-up, though, the main event a lot of collectors have been waiting for has come with the reveal of a finalized 1:4 scale Superman and a new Fortress of Solitude base. Sideshow's Facebook fans are already commenting on the figure's resemblance to Alex Ross art and the late actor Christopher Reeve, who serves as a definitive Supes likeness for many following his starring role in four live action Superman films. The roughly $400 figure will come in two models, one standard version and separate limited edition version with a "switch out portrait with heat vision eyes." Fans who want the exclusive can preorder via SC's newsletter next week, with the standard Supes set to arrive in stores and online later this year. You can check out all of Sideshow's promo images after the cut.
