Stan Lee is perhaps the closest thing we’ll ever have to continuity between all the Marvel films. The legendary comic book creator has had cameos in just about every single Marvel movie regardless of studio affiliation, including X-Men, The Avengers and Spider-Man. He’s the only free agent able to move between properties, offering up silly little appearances in each Marvel movie with a friendly grandpa wink and a nod.

Obviously he’ll be appearing in X-Men: Apocalypse, but according to Lee, you can expect a very different kind of cameo this time around. Business Insider picked up this quote from Lee during a Q&A at Comic-Con, teasing his appearance in Bryan Singer’s upcoming X-Men sequel:

When you go see the next X-Men movie when it comes out and see my fantastic cameo, you will say, ‘I remember he told me about it here. It’s a different cameo in that it has one additional thing in it. And if that doesn’t make you go see X-Men, I’m wasting my time.

Given that Lee’s cameos are often very brief and typically in keeping with his goofy old man persona, perhaps we’ll see Lee in a slightly more expanded cameo, or maybe he’ll actually have super powers this time. I also love that Lee seems to think that his cameo is the main attraction of X-Men: Apocalypse.

For fun, here’s a video compiling all of Lee’s cameo appearances in Marvel movies to date (thanks to Slashfilm):

X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters on May 27, 2016.
