It's a big year for Star Wars, in case you didn't know. Aside from a wealth of new action figures and collectibles, books, comics, and that new movie or whatever, there's also going to be a new installment in the fan-favorite Star Wars Battlefront series. It's been too long since players have been able to pick up an E-11 blaster rifle and defend the likes of Mos Eisley or Hoth from the Rebel Scum (TM), but soon we'll be able to travel back to that galaxy far, far away to blast the Empire's enemies back from whence they came.

During Sony's PlayStation press event at Paris Games Week, DICE unveiled a new gameplay trailer for Battlefront which offered the first looks at newly-announced Heroes like Leia, Han and Palpatine in action. There's a lot of trench warfare happening, as well as some questionable voice acting, but Battlefront appears to be shaping up to be everything fans have been waiting for from the series since it vanished those many years ago.

For as long as there have been Star Wars stories and games, there haven't been very many experiences that give you the feeling of being there on the battlefields of the Rebel Alliance's battle for galactic independence. Rumors hint that some upcoming films might deal with the fight on the ground that didn't just follow the Skywalker clan around, but Battlefront seems to give a good impression of what these encounters could have been like... without any of the real repercussions of such a massive conflict. From the forests of Endor to the frozen wastes of Hoth, and beyond, you'll be smack in the middle of one of the longest wars in fictional history.

Of course, you won't just be limited to being a grunt. Battlefront will also let you take to the skies to fight for whatever side you choose. TIE Fighters and X-Wings will be present, but like the heroes and villains you'll have at your side on the ground, iconic ships like the Millennium Falcon and Slave I will also be playable for dogfights. You get a glimpse of that action in the trailer, but it's hard to gauge just how different it will be to pilot the Falcon versus one of the more standard spacecraft included. There aren't that many other signature ships in the classic trilogy, but one hopes Darth Vader's TIE makes an appearance in one way or another.

Star Wars Battlefront will be out on Nov. 17, and if Wheeler asks, I'm totally sick that day, okay you guys?
