It wasn’t too long ago that Star Wars Rebels fans eagerly theorized the arrival of Clone Wars vet Ahsoka Tano in Season 1, while the Season 2 finale left it rather vague that she survived her showdown with Darth Vader. Dave Filoni downplayed the notion thereafter, but may since have found a way to return Snips for a role in Star Wars Rebels Season 3.

Take this with a grain of salt for the moment, but according to IGN, supervising director Dave Filoni spoke to Ahsoka’s future during the “Ahsoka’s Untold Tales” panel at Star Wars Celebration 2016, specifically that fan reaction to the character’s ambiguous end had moved him. Where previously Filoni was uncertain we’d see Ahsoka on Rebels again, the series boss now hints:

It just might be possible … It doesn’t necessarily mean what some of us would hope it means. But it might be possible to see her again. She might have something to do. […]

The fan support behind her is a strong argument. I’ve always had a story in mind, so I haven’t changed that story in all honesty […] She’s become very important as people realize she’s got a relationship to Anakin, Darth Vader, now more than ever. There’s a lot there as a character that I think is exciting to explore.

That said, the first official clip for Star Wars Rebels Season 3 suggested at least something of a time jump, to afford Ezra a newer, more mature look, but might that mean Ahsoka has been out of contact with the Ghost crew? Should the character return, might it occur in some other format from the present?

We’ll have more on Star Wars Rebels season 3, including a Gary Whitta episode, new villain and more, but what should we hope for with regards to Ahsoka’s fate?
