We’re still at least a month out from The Flash and Supergirl teaming up for a musical “Duet,” but things are definitely seeming different in Central City. Not only do new set photos reveal some musical-seeming shenanigans afoot, but new reports suggest that at least Supergirl will have her own fresh musical threads.

Where previously our first look at Darren Criss’ Music Meister seemed notably less than … well, Flash-y, a new round of set photos seem to suggest at least part of the episode will take place in a fantasy-esque gangster era. Considering that John Barrowman and Victor Garber were present for the scene, it’s possible that Legends’ time travel has something to do with it:

Perhaps even more intriguing, new reports from filming suggest that Melissa Benoist will at least temporarily sport some kind of musical-specific Supergirl costume:

For what it’s worth, neither Supergirl nor The Flash have undergone many major costume changes in the last few seasons (at least compared with Arrow), something Grant Gustin has expressed interest in rectifying.

The two-part event will feature Glee alum Darren Criss as the Music Meister, whose menace is said to begin in the March 20 Supergirl episode, and continue in the following night’s Flash. Also lending their voices will be Jesse L. Martin, Carlos Valdes and Jeremy Jordan, along with Legends of Tomorrow stars Victor Garber and John Barrowman. Supergirl cast David Harewood and Chris Wood will also appear in non-singing roles, while original songs have been provided by both Crazy Ex-Girlfriend star Rachel Bloom, and the Golden Globe-winning La La Land lyricists Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

You can get a good sense of the whole cast’s musical prowess here, but stay tuned for more on Flash and Supergirl’s musical team-up.
