Supergirl has been beefing up its cast for Season 2, including Superman himself and a likely replacement for Cat Grant, while the latest addition should make loads of DC fans happy. Beloved gay character Maggie Sawyer will join the cast, as Season 2 sets Floriana Lima in the detective role.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Lima will join the Supergirl cast as a series regular “inspired by” (but still named) Maggie Sawyer, in this iteration “a detective for the National City Police Department who takes a special interest in the cases involving aliens.” The John Byrne-created character was first introduced in 1987 as captain of the Metropolis Special Crimes Unit, also becoming one of the first openly characters in mainstream comics.

Meanwhile, in addition to the introduction of Tyler Hoechlin as Superman and Lynda Carter as this particular Earth’s POTUS, Supergirl Season 2 will cast several notable roles that include Lex Luthor’s sister Lena, and several others. Still unknown is if Supergirl Season 2 will introduce Superboy, given that mystery Season 2 cliffhanger, or how the Maiden of Might ends up in that epic four-way superhero crossover.

Supergirl has plenty other questions to answer on the road to Season 2's October 10 premiere, including from Comic-Con 2016 next week, but will Kara get along with her new cast?
