As tends to be the case with live-action superhero costumes, Supergirl got ahead of Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman suit debut with a glossy first look at the new Man of Steel posed with his cousin. Now, sneak a much more detailed peek with new Supergirl Season 2 set photos, as Superman goes up, up and away!

If anything about the new Superman suit designed by Supergirl costumer Kiersten Ronning seemed a bit rigid, new photos from the Vancouver set seem brighter, tighter, and very much a vision of the character’s comic appearance come to life. Tyler Hoechlin even seems to have that stubble under control (for perhaps five minutes after these photos were taken):

Of course, the question remains as to what has Supergirl’s Superman suddenly so photogenic, given Clark seldom made the trip from Metropolis to National City last year. It’s more likely we’re looking at Superman in Kara’s hometown, given the National City police cars visible in other photos, while as prior reports have teased a threat great enough for a Wonder-ous POTUS to unite the two Super-cousins in one place.

Meanwhile, in addition to the introduction of Floriana Lima as Maggie Sawyer and Lynda Carter as this particular Earth’s POTUS, Supergirl Season 2 will cast several notable roles that include Lex Luthor’s sister Lena, and several others. Still unknown is if Supergirl Season 2 will introduce Superboy, given that mystery Season 2 cliffhanger, or how the Maiden of Might ends up in that epic four-way superhero crossover.

Supergirl has plenty other questions to answer on the road to Season 2's October 10 premiere, but do new looks at the Man of Steel allay any concerns?
