Parting Shot: Superman/Wonder Woman Pairing Is In-Continuity With Fashion

DC Comics has announced that Superman and Wonder Woman will be pursuing a canonical romance in an upcoming issue of the Justice League, but the couple already appears to be experiencing a lovers' quarrel in the world of superheroic fashion, as seen in the Junk Food t-shirts above and below.

While the narratives in many comics shirts are often non-canonical (and nonsensical), you can't deny the aesthetic and marketable appeal of Superman coupled with Wonder Woman, which is probably why many non-comics fans have a tendency to assume that the pair are naturally BF/GF, along the same lines of Batman and Catwoman. I for one don't think aesthetic appeal is substantial enough to build a strong foundation for a lasting relationship. However, it is important to note that since DC Comics has played around with this pairing before, we can hope writers and artists will work to build a faceted relationship between the two characters that go beyond matching costumes.
