Cinematical reports today that the spec script for "Supermax," a horror film about a prison for people with creepy powers, has been sold to Columbia Pictures -- which also recently bought "Super Max," a vehicle for DC hero Green Arrow that similarly deposited him in a prison filled with DC supervillains. Think "The Shawshank Redemption" meets The Raft.

The Green Arrow flick sounds pretty cool -- you can read a script review here -- but there's been some speculation and that newer "Supermax" could kill it at Columbia. It'd be easy enough to change the title, but some commentators think the thematic similarities will deep-six the comics flick.

Personally, I'm not so sure... After all, it's never, ever, ever stopped Hollywood before.
