The 'Riverdale' Ongoing Series May In Fact Involve A Kumite [Preview]
Here's the only thing you need to know about Riverdale, the new ongoing series from Archie Comics that ties into the CW's truly bonkers television drama of the same name. So you know how every episode of the TV show is named after a movie, like "Touch of Evil" or "Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!"? It turns out that they're keeping that up for the comic and the two stories that make up this first issue, too. One is called Bloodsport. The other is called Bring It On.

Vote Hiram Lodge For Mayor In Waid & Fish's 'Archie' #8
Good ol’ Archie Andrews can’t seem to catch a break, having recently been discharged from hospital with a concussion courtesy of his ex-girlfriend Betty Cooper’s errant homerun baseball while sneaky Reggie Mantle tries to worm his way into the life of his current girlfriend, Veronica Lodge. How could things get worse for Archie, you ask? How about if Veronica’s father, a man who has no shortage of contempt for our hero, ran for Mayor of Riverdale? We’ve got a preview of Archie #8 by Mark Waid, Veronica Fish, Andre Szymanowicz, Jen Vaughn & Jack Morelli, to give you a sneak peek at the Lodge campaign.

Exclusive: Seven Variant Covers For July's 'Archie' #1
As you may have heard, Archie is relaunching their flagship title in July, bringing an end to what has been the longest continuously published American comic that has never been rebooted, after 666 issues. In addition to a new direction from Mark Waid and Fiona Staples, the relaunch is getting a whole slew of variant covers focusing on the revamped design for everyone's favorite two-timing redheaded high schooler, from artists like J. Scott Campbell, Dean Haspiel, and more. Now we've got seven of those variant covers to reveal, bringing the total number of Archie #1 variants to approximately one hundred million (and all of them awesome). Check them out below, from Tania Del Rio, Genevieve F.T., legendary Superman and Shazam artist Jerry Ordway, and more!

The Jack Kirby Convention Sketchbook: NYCC Update
With the end of the New York Comic-Con, convention season has once again come to a close, and that means the end of another round of entries in my ongoing sketchbook. Schlepping this thing around the country is definitely one of the most fun things about conventions for me, even if my theme isn't quite as good as Gavin from 4thLetter, who has artists drawing "The Macho Man" Randy Savage

Andre Szymanowicz draws some quirky stuff, such as Don Draper dressed as Madman and his "Popgun"-invitee comic "Sushi Nachos." It's no wonder that he was asked to contribute artwork for "Elephantmen," too, given how animated his Batman and Spirit sketches look, even when they're covered in shadows and watercolors...

Don Draper As… Madman?
We've already mentioned Mike Allred and his new project today, but it'd be mad of us not to post about something as awesome as this mash-up of AMC's sexy '60s drama "Mad Men" and Allred's signature comics character Madman. Illustrated by comic artist Andre Szymanowicz, the drawing captures "Mad Men" ad man Don Draper, fused with Frank Einstein a...
