Mattel's DC Multiverse Expands to the Rebirth Era and More [Toy Fair 2017]
This year at Toy Fair, Mattel once again lifted the curtain on a number of new figures and collectibles based in the DC Universe. From the continuing DC Multiverse figure line, which mixes the comics, television and movie properties, to DC Super Hero Girls and Teen Titans Go!, there was little that Mattel showed that didn't elicit excitement from everyone in attendance. However, the biggest surprise was clearly the unveiling of the Wonder Woman DC Multiverse wave, which gave us our first clear look at the DC Cinematic Universe version of Ares.

Mass media adaptations of superheroes can reach a much wider audience and tend to bring in an entirely new bunch of fans, but there's one advantage their comic book counterparts have always had: Events! Comics, more than any other medium, excel at complicated crossovers and extended storylines built around a single idea, and they've been doing it so long that no other medium can come close. Until now, I mean. Cartoon Network's Teen Titans Go! has been launching into some truly comic book style storytelling over the past few years, including a crossover with Powerpuff Girls, and now, they're set for their first big extended event: A week's worth of daily episodes that find the Titans shipwrecked on a desert island and caught up in all manner of Gilliganesque hijinx --- oh, and also being hunted by an alien. Check out the full roster of episodes and clips from each one below!

Here at ComicsAlliance we're big fans of Teen Titans Go, the sitcom that asks, "What do the premier group of teenage superheroes do when not saving the world?" And answers that question with, "Almost marry a pot of chili, team up with alternate versions of themselves, and eat so much that their stomachs overtake their minds." The point is, it's a pretty great show. If you've been watching Cartoon Network at all during the last month, you're probably aware that the channel recently rebooted Craig McCracken's legendary The Powerpuff Girls. Like TTG , the new Powerpuff doubles down on the wackiness of its predecessor to pretty fun results. Now fans of both shows will get the crossover of their dreams with "TTG v. PPG." Check out a first look clip, above!

If you thought the first year of Lego Dimensions brought together more characters and franchises than you thought humanly possible, wait until you get a load of what TT Games has in store for 2016. The first official trailer for Lego Dimensions: Year Two (my titling, not theirs) arrived today and with it came a wealth of unexpected surprises. Yes, Batman, Gandalf and Wyldstyle are back again, but the portal has opened in new worlds featuring Harry Potter, Teen Titans Go!, Adventure Time, the A-Team, Goonies, Gremlins, the Powerpuff Girls and like a bajillion others. Lego is not playing around. What's more, every single new set is 100% compatible with everything that's already been released. You know what that means? You can have BA Baracus drive the Mystery Machine. You can have the Joker and Voldemort fight over who has a pastier complexion. You can have Beast Boy and Mowgli take down Beetlejuice. Dogs and cats living together; mass hysteria!

Ever since Robin, Kid Flash, and Aqualad teamed up to take on Mr. Twister in The Brave and the Bold #54, way back in the summer of 1964, The Teen Titans have been the second most important superhero team in the DC Universe. And considering the most important team, the Justice League, is basically a pantheon of gods, that's nothing to sneeze at. Being comprised of younger heroes, the Titans are the team who live on the cutting edge and reflect the times (in the strange ways that comics do) whether it's crazy made-up Bob Haney 1960's slang, or Marv Wolfman and George Perez injecting X-Men-inspired 1980's soap opera. We put together a gallery of the best Teen Titans fan art to celebrate these heroic kids.

There are a lot of great things about Teen Titans Go --- its commitment to burrito-based storytelling, for instance --- but one of the best is most definitely the presence of Dan Hipp. He's been the show's art director since its return to Cartoon Network in 2013, and while his signature style most often crops up in backgrounds or as part of quick gags, occasionally he gets to take the spotlight. That's exactly what happened in last month's 'Campfire Stories', an episode following the time-honored tradition of each character telling a different scary story that was presented in a different art style. For Raven's story, Hipp redesigned the characters to look like sword-and-sorcery fantasy heroes, and as you might expect, they're awesome. Now, he's posted some of the designs on his Tumblr, and if you haven't seen them already, they're great.

Over almost two years and over eighty episodes on the air, Cartoon Network’s Teen Titans Go has dropped its characters into a wide variety of different situations. They might go to the future, meet alternate versions of themselves, or die of old age. There are even songs. Some critics have accused the show of being too silly, so in the episode debuting today, “Let’s Get Serious,” the Titans meet some of these critics in the form of Young Justice, the teen superhero team from their own, departed, animated show --- and they’re definitely not pleased with what they see. To battle their critics, the Titans grimace really hard until they too become incredibly serious, muscled, gritty one-liner-spouting versions of themselves. We spoke to series producer Michael Jelenic about the crossover, bouncing criticisms back at detractors and pushing the show into even wider, weirder directions.
