It’s A Whole New Landscape For Fionna And Cake In ‘Adventure Time 2014 Annual’ #1 [Preview]

Adventure Time 2014 Annual 1 Preview
Boom! Studios

Tiny Kitten Teeth creators Frank Gibson and Becky Dreistadt are no stranger to Adventure Time, having lent their talents to a number of Boom!'s all-ages books, but they always manage to leave their Becky & Frank mark. This Wednesday in Adventure Time Annual #1 the duo does it again with a special horizontally-oriented storyline that gives their whimsical, painted take on Fionna and Cake all the room it needs to breathe -- and it's going to need room because this comic winds back the clock to see just how the future heroes of Ooo behaved as kids.

Kent Osborne Explains How Tony Hawk Inspired ‘Adventure Time: Banana Guard Academy’ (Sort Of) [Interview]

Adventure Time Banana Guard Academy Kent Osborne Interview
Boom! Studios

When Boom! filled us in that Adventure Time head writer Kent Osborne would be teaming with Regular Show: Skips artist Mad Rupert for a new series in July that'd include the show's recently-introduced Root Beer Guy, I was intrigued. When the title of the book was revealed to be  Adventure Time: Banana Guard Academy, I was ecstatic. I finally had a reason to make someone answer a question relating to the Police Academy franchise! Fortunately for ComicsAlliance, Kent is a very good sport. Read on to learn about how Kent crossed over from the world of AT animation into comics, who some of his favorite creators are, and how Tony Hawk fits into it all.

Finn And Jake Achieve Spectre Status In Ryan North & Jim Rugg’s ‘Adventure Time’ #27 [Preview]

Adventure Time 27 Preview
Boom! Studios

Ryan North's Adventure Time run with artist Jim Rugg has yielded many welcome surprises (a mecha Lumpy Space Princess, for one) but fans have also paid a price for such a creative rampage as Finn and Jake have learned about mind-body dualism the hard way by becoming ghosts in a machine. Now the spectral heroes have to turn to the last person they can usually count on to return to being flesh and buds: Ice King. Get an exclusive first-look at next week's Adventure Time #27 past the cut for a taste of how the heroes fare on their quest to become corporeal.

‘Adventure Time’ Head Writer Kent Osborne Teams With Mad Rupert For ‘Banana Guard Academy’ Miniseries

ADVENTURE TIME- BANANA GUARD ACADEMY
Boom! Studios

A number of the Adventure Time animated series' most popular supporting characters have taken the spotlight across Boom! Studios' numerous comic book miniseries and backup stories, but only one hero could pull series head writer Kent Osborne from the show to its comic book incarnation: Root Beer Guy. Well, him and the Candy Kingdom's collective Banana Guard police force, anyway. This July Osborne makes his AT comic debut alongside artist Mad Rupert (Regular Show: Skips) for Adventure Time: Banana Guard Academy #1, the first of a six-issue miniseries exploring the world of law and order in Ooo.

Boom! Studios Unveils Its Emerald City Comicon 2014 Exclusives

Boom Studios ECCC Variants

Seattle's Emerald City Comic Con 2014 is just around the corner, and while I've been trying to figure out if I can make it to the very first Starbucks to complete my tour of original chain restaurant locations (I went to the first KFC back in 2005, there is a museum attached), the folks at Boom! Studios have been busy with a new set of variant covers! They'll be offering a handful of Emerald City exclusive covers at the show, and they're all pretty awesome.

Check below to see the roster of ECCC variants, including a Nirvana-inspired take on Adventure Time, a new look at Lumberjanes #1, a Punch-Out!! homage for Regular Show: Skips, and a new cover for The Midas Flesh #1 by Sex Criminals artist Chip Zdarsky!

North And Rugg Unleash Mecha Lumpy Space Princess In ‘Adventure Time’ #26 [Preview]

Adventure Time #26, Boom! Studios

I think it's fair to say that the characters in Adventure Time are prone to making some pretty bad decisions. I mean, just the lack of tooth-brushing that we've seen in a show set in a place called "The Candy Kingdom" alone is enough to make you shake your head at the life choices Finn and Jake have made. Next week, though, when the Eisner award-winning Adventure Time comic book hits its 26th issue, writer Ryan North and artist Jim Rugg (who is doing a full AT arc following his backup in issue #10) lead Finn and Jake to make one of the most alarmingly and obviously terrible decisions that we've see yet -- and you can get a jump start on cringing right here at CA with the preview below.

And if that wasn't enough to get to read on, then trust me when I say that for one brief panel, this issue introduces what is undoubtedly the sensational character find of 2014: MECHA LUMPY SPACE PRINCESS.

Emerald City Comicon And We Love Fine Team-Up For Exclusive Apparel With Marvel, My Little Pony, Adventure Time And More [Fashion]

Untitled-1

Offering a notably comics-specific, distinctly warm and fuzzy vibe that's not to be found at some of the massive and monstrous, comics-suppressing conventions here in the US, Seattle's Emerald City Comicon feels a lot more like comics summer camp than it does a media trade show. Comics professionals from all dimensions of the industry -- creators, publishers, press and beyond -- all look forward to ECCC for the same reasons attendees do; it's a great weekend to meet your readers, meet your favorite authors, and celebrate the medium we all love.

Also, buying cool stuff.

That same summer camp quality that makes ECCC worth attending may also make it worth commemorating, which is why it makes sense that geek fashion haus We Love Fine has made its first ever partnership with a convention with a limited edition line of t-shirts. Featuring Marvel characters like Captain Marvel, Hawkeye and Deadpool as well as other We Love Fine licenses like My Little Pony, Transformers, ElfQuest, Bravest Warriors, Adventure Time and Bee & Puppycat alongside Seattle iconography (very cute), the ECCCxWLF collection will be available exclusively for $25 each at the Seattle show from March 27-30.

You can inspect the designs below. More info at the show's merchandise page.
