We’ve seen a flicker or two of footage from the combined mights of Supergirl, Flash, Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow, but nothing concrete before the week of November 28. Now, new photos from the four-part event show us some of the action, along with a surprise return, and one seriously expansive cast.

The CW has managed to keep most footage of its four-way crossover between Supergirl, Flash, Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow under wraps, but as we’ve long known, you don’t get this many superheroes together without a little friction. So it is, that new reports tease how the Dominators will potentially pit the CW’s DC heroes against one another.

Arrow offered only the quickest tease of Dolph Lundgren’s flashback villain “Kovar,” but with Season 5 quickly gearing up for its new villains, Lundgren has finally stepped out of the shadows to break Oliver. Catch a dapper Dolph and new team photos in the first official preview for next week’s “So It Begins.”

On this week’s episode, “Human Target,” Wild Dog has been captured by Tobias Church, and Team Arrow is desperate to find him.

The Arrow franchise has long held a curious interaction with major Batman characters, culminating in a season devoted to Ra’s al Ghul himself, and it seems we’re not done with the League of Assassins just yet. Season 5 will officially introduce a Stargate SG-1 star as Ra’s daughter Talia al Ghul, half-sister to Nyssa.

It’s never entirely clear where DC draws the line at major heroes and villains in The CW series, given the use of characters like Superman and Flash, but not Batman. Green Lantern too has been given frequent Arrow reference, though producers now officially state they “could never” feature the character in brightest day, or blackest night.

Arrow Season 5 has itself on solid footing – even making the flashbacks seem borderline watchable again. At least part of that owes to the impending arrival of Dolph Lundgren as the villainous Kovar, now scheduled to make his extended debut by a new Season 5 press release.

On this week’s episode, “Penance,” Oliver has a secret mission and gets a new outfit, Tobias Church is making moves against Star City, and Team Arrow’s new recruits have a pretty rough time. Dermott Downs directed the episode from a script by Brian Ford Sullivan and Oscar Balderrama.

The first major crossover between Arrow and The Flash didn’t bother with too much story in common, while the second largely served to set up Legends of Tomorrow, so what happens when all three get together for one story?
