Mentor And Partner: Jeff Lemire And David Ramsey On Bringing ‘Arrow’s Diggle To Comics [Interview]

Diggle Green Arrow 24

One of the bright shining lights of The CW show Arrow's first season was the character of John Diggle and the actor portraying him, David Ramsey. Far more than a sidekick, Diggle really took on a life of his own. He's proved popular enough that he has made the transition to comics, in the tradition of Jimmy Olsen (who originally appeared on the Adventures of Superman radio show).

To mark Diggle's brief appearance in Green Arrow #24 and in anticipation of his co-starring role in issue 25, the series' "Zero Year" issue, we sat down with series writer Jeff Lemire and Ramsey himself to talk about the transition.

The CW’s superhero series Arrow re-imagines Green Arrow for a TV audience as a tough, often ruthless vigilante bent on setting things right in his home of Starling City by punishing the wicked. ComicsAlliance’s Matt Wilson will be following along (even if it's very late) to see how he fares.

In this episode: No appearance by Bruce Springsteen as the episode title might indicate, but there is a mildly complex heist, a big plan to bring down China's economy, and divorce papers.

Michael Jai White To Play Bronze Tiger In ‘Arrow’ Season 2

arr41

Arrow is adding a lot of stuff this season: superpowers (as exemplified by the new Flash who will be premiering in an episode, then heading on to his own series), a possible Metamorpho, and now it's been revealed that Bronze Tiger, the amoral martial artist sometimes-hero sometimes-villain will be joining the show.

And he'll be played by Spawn and Black Dynamite star Michael Jai White, so expect no complaints from me there. (Expect many more elsewhere.)

‘Arrow’ Casts Cynthia Addai-Robinson As Amanda Waller

Waller01

It was just last week that we heard rumors about the CW's live-action Green Arrow television series Arrow adding Amanda Waller to the cast, and today, it's been confirmed. Waller is indeed joining the show and she'll be played by Cynthia Addai-Robinson, best known for her role as Naevia in Spartacus: War of the Damned.

In stepping into the role, Addai-Robinson has become the latest actress to play a character who -- probably not surprisingly -- has become one of DC's most prominent fixtures in media outside comics.

‘Arrow’ May Be Looking For Its Amanda Waller

AWaller

The CW's Arrow really seems to be expanding its version of the DC Universe in its upcoming second season, and the newest DC character reportedly joining the fold could really blow the lid off things in terms of making the show's TV world a lot like the one in comics: Amanda Waller, who has been in charge of the Suicide Squad and Checkmate in her illustrious career as a sometimes-evil, sometimes-not government powerhouse.

Although no one has been cast for the role just yet, reports indicate that Waller will appear in this season's sixth episode as the head of A.R.G.U.S., the government investigative agency introduced near the end of the first season by way of Diggle's friend Lyla Michaels, a.k.a. Harbinger.
