CBS’ Supergirl made clear from the start that it intended to tell Kara’s story - not her Super-cousin’s - though that didn’t stop the DC drama from awkwardly fumbling around his offscreen presence. Now, in addition to the big CW move, Supergirl will finally introduce a flesh-and-blood (or rather steel) Superman, casting for the iconic role now underway.

Hey, remember that fancy new Bryan Fuller-helmed Star Trek series streaming on CBS All-Access in 2017? The one that hasn’t cast a single actor, let alone shot a scrap of footage? Well, now it has a teaser! And a logo! In pog form!. Okay, it’s just a teaser.

It wasn’t seen as likely that Supergirl could make the transition from its prestigious CBS home to the more youth-skewing CW, but now we’ve officially taken the plunge, it remains to be seen what changes lie in store. As far as CBS was concerned, the move is “win-win,” but what took so long to hammer out a deal?

It’s been some time since CBS boss Les Moonves first assured that Supergirl and other freshman dramas would get their renewals in due course, and at long last, Kara’s big day is here. Supergirl will officially return for Season 2, albeit with one major CW twist.

CBS’ Supergirl has had surprising difficulty getting Season 2 off the ground, a decision magnified by recent talk that CBS might seek either a reduced order, or potential move to The CW. Such a shift was considered unlikely at first, but now seems like a moderate possibility as the renewal deadline looms.

Given though it seemed such a lucrative property like CBS’ Supergirl would soar into a second season, delayed confirmation has given fans cause for concern. And with good reason, it seems, as reports suggest CBS could drastically slash the budget for Season 2, even considering a move to The CW.

Among the many questions raised by CBS’ announcement of a new All-Access streaming Star Trek for 2017 under Hannibal creator Bryan Fuller, fans had to wonder if a TV return would follow the J.J. Abrams reboot films, return to the original timeline, or perhaps exist independent of both. Now, reports suggest that not only is the original continuity back in play, we know which Star Trek properties the new CBS iteration will fall between.

CBS’ Supergirl as of yet lacks a formal Season 2 renewal (given the fun of last night’s crossover, expect one any day), though that hasn’t stopped Kara from keeping an eye on Season 2. Not only is an erstwhile Wonder Woman likely to take part, but so too might Supergirl Season 2 bring in clone of Superman himself.

Supergirl has played every bit of homage to prior productions as her DC counterparts, finding roles for just about every other Kara Zor-El, so might Wonder Woman be next? Supergirl producers reveal an authoritative role in mind for Lynda Carter come Season 2, you know, presuming Supergirl gets a Season 2 (it’s going to get a Season 2).
