The Flash might have the most fun casting from prior incarnations, but CBS’ Supergirl is quickly catching up. Already flush with movie Supergirl Helen Slater as Kara’s adoptive mother, CBS has added Smallvile Kara Zor-El Laura Vandervoort in the role of DC’s Indigo, also casting DC villain Master Jailer.

The minds behind CBS’ Supergirl have time and time again downplayed the likelihood of Kara meeting up with Arrow or The Flash, but that hasn’t stopped producers from at least considering the crossover. To wit, The CW and CBS will decide this month if Supergirl might cross over to Barry and Oliver’s world before the current season’s end.

CBS’ Supergirl didn’t exactly leave 2015 in a good place, and 2016 isn’t looking particularly better by the first clips of Kara’s January return “Blood Bonds.” Not only is Cat Grant still hot on the trail of her secret identity, but the Kryptonian baddie Non also appears to have Hank Henshaw in dire straits.

Supergirl hasn’t suffered a lack of recognizable DC characters, occasionally borrowing a few faces from her famous cousin’s world to trade blows across National City. Now, Kara Zor-El will come face to face with a bit of both, going up against a Bizarro superhero of her very own.

CBS’ Supergirl will take a well-deserved winter break after this past Monday’s cliffhanger-y “Hostile Takeover,” thought many a DC fan have been left reeling by the prior twist that a major series star had concealed their identity as J’onn J’onzz, best known as Justice League founder Martian Manhunter. Now, Supergirl bosses explain the unanticipated subversion, as well as its impact on Kara going forward.

There’s no escape from all the DC TV crossover of late, with Flash-es and Arrow-s turning into Legends, even as Supergirl remains isolated at CBS for another seven episodes. We’ve heard what bosses have to say on bringing Kara Zor-El into Barry and Oliver’s world, and vice-versa, but despite a recent rumor, executive producers assure that Supergirl won’t be meeting The Flash just yet.

Whether or not CBS’ Supergirl has soared into the hit CBS was expecting, or bizarrely begun leaning on its Superman connections too much, there was little likelihood Kara would be sent back to The Phantom Zone just yet. CBS has officially picked up a full season of Supergirl, though perhaps not as full as some hope.

CBS' Supergirl has maintained a notably odd relationship with Superman, over-alluding to him in the pilot without speaking a name, only to feature a faceless fly-by and emoji chat as early as episode 3. Now, the DC drama will take its next Kryptic step, casting a younger Man of Steel for an appearance that ... might make your head hurt.

The tragic Friday events of Paris’ terrorist attacks made impact on a number of TV series, including SNL’s sympathetic cold open, while CBS will next alter its programming out of respect. Both Supergirl and NCIS: LA will shuffle their episode orders, the Monday episodes of which featured content disturbingly similar to the awful attacks.

CBS’ Supergirl has officially touched down from her series premiere, and whatever we made of the pilot, DC baddies are already lining up to take Superman’s cousin down.
