Drax Gets To Destroyin’ In New Series from Scott Hepburn, Cullen Bunn and CM Punk [Preview]

Drax_feat

That Drax fella has a thing for retired wrestlers; he was played by one, Dave Bautista, in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie, and is being written by another, C.M. Punk, in his new self-titled series.

Never let it be said that Marvel doesn't give new talents a shot; Punk is relatively inexperienced in the comics writing game, even more so than Bautista at the acting game. Fortunately he's tag-teaming with co-writer and Sixth Gun creator Cullen Bunn, and the two of them can count on the expressive and dynamic pencil work of former Captain Marvel artist Scott Hepburn, who will help keep the blood flowing as Drax the Destroyer carves his way through his enemies. Check out an unlettered preview.

Is the World Ready for a Hapa Psylocke?

Psylocke-feature

With Psylocke featured in the upcoming film X-Men: Apocalypse, we can expect some extra attention to fall on Marvel’s striking, purple-haired mutant who wields a telekinetic katana. And with that attention, the problem of racial identity in the character’s backstory is getting some new scrutiny. In her current iteration, Psylocke is a white British woman, Betsy Braddock, whose mind --- by a series of outlandish plot developments --- is in the body of Japanese ninja assassin named Kwannon.

Exclusive: Check Out Tyler Crook’s Art Process for ‘Harrow County’

harrowcounty2-feat

This week sees the release of the first issue of the new Dark Horse horror series Harrow County, from B.P.R.D. artist Tyler Crook and Sixth Gun writer Cullen Bunn. A southern gothic story about a teen girl who discovers her unexpected connection to the things that lurk in the woods, it promises to be fantastically spooky in the way we've come to expect from Dark Horse's industry-leading line of horror comics.

To mark the book's release, Dark Horse has given ComicsAlliance an exclusive glimpse at Crook's artistic process. A series of time-lapse videos show Crook penciling, inking, and hand-watercoloring pages from the fourth issue --- which we don't think gives away any spoilers! The videos also features suitably haunting music composed by Crook himself.
