This month it all goes down. The DC Rebirth is in full effect, with nearly every single title in the catalog getting reshaped to suit the future of DC Comics' publishing plans. In an effort to revitalize the line and go back to the legacies of each and every character, the DC Universe is getting shaken up in a big way. Starting in June and running through the following months, nearly every book, character and creative team is getting a major shake-up. The DCU will never be the same again.

Toy Fair 2016: DC Collectibles Has Designs on Comic Book Icons
This year, DC Collectibles had arguably its best showing at a Toy Fair in the past few years. Consistency has ruled DC Collectibles' presentations since refocusing its efforts alongside the launch of the New 52, but 2016's showing added even more depth to an already impressive collection of toy and statue lines. While the new movie and TV-based pieces were nice, they merely served as a complement to the real meat of DC Collectibles' upcoming slate: the comic book figures. While yes, technically all the statues and figures DC Collectibles makes are based on comics, there's a definitive line between the television and film properties and those that spring forth directly from the pages of your favorite monthlies themselves. There are no Designer Series figures for the creatives working on Arrow, and none of the adaptations have earned Icon status. I suppose you could consider the Batman: The Animated Series line a melding of both of those ideas, but that line is a beast all its own.

Toy Fair 2016: DC Collectibles Reveals Its Movie Figure Squad Goals
There are a lot of adapted DC Comics properties on television or coming to movie theaters at the moment, which is a good thing for DC fans depending on your perspective. What makes that a positive in my eyes is all the interesting collectibles we get thanks to these high-profile shows and films. While it's true we were already getting some Flash, Green Arrow and Harley Quinn toys, it's been a while since a Katana statue or figure has been released, let alone an El Diablo. This year, DC Collectibles aims to rectify that. We got our first look at the upcoming Suicide Squad statues back in January, but seeing them in person shows just how accurate they really are. They're loaded up with details, and the actor likenesses are really on point. Individually, all the pieces look good, but when you get the whole team arranged, they do form a nice group shot as well. It's not entirely necessary to appreciate each character, but if you're an absolute Squad nut, DC's thought well enough ahead.

Toy Fair 2016: DC Collectibles' Batman: TAS Series Somehow Got Better
For three years, DC Collectibles has been churning out figures based on the beloved Batman: The Animated Series. There have been a few hiccups along the way, but after seemingly righting the ship at the tail end of 2015, it looks like the line is set for some smooth sailing in the coming year. At Toy Fair, nearly 20 new figures for the line were unveiled for the first time, with final production versions of few others appearing as well. Given that the show, and its successor The New Batman Adventures, ran for so long, there's still plenty of mileage to get out of this series. There's no signs of DC Collectibles slowing down at all, and that's just fine by us. A few of the figures were teased prior to the show, including the tremendous new box sets for "Girl's Night Out," "Legends of the Dark Knight," and Batman Beyond. Even in the early stages, all three of these collections look fantastic. Supergirl and Livewire are the only new figures to the "Girl's Night Out" set, but both are welcome. The two characters had great designs on the show, and those come through wonderfully here. The Batman Beyond set comes with some accessories for Terry, including wing attachments, so there's a lot of promise in that set. Both Batman Beyond and "Girl's Night Out" also hint at potential expansions for DC Collectibles' animated figures. Keep those fingers crossed for an Inque and Bruce Timm-inspired Darkseid.

To this point, DC Collectibles has been reticent to deliver action figures based on the movie properties Warner Bros. produces based on the DC Comics library. There have been statues and replicas galore, but few actual action figures from DC's in-house collectibles team have been of the cinematic oeuvre. With the DC Cinematic Universe kicking into high gear this year, it's time for the DC Films Premium line to make its debut. The first figures for the line will include a mash-up of Man of Steel and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice characters, all set to arrive in September. Armored Batman and Superman will represent BVS, with Zod, Faora and Jor-El coming from MoS. Now, I know there probably weren't too many people banging at the gates, begging for more Russel Crowe Jor-El figures, but at least his Kryptonian armor makes him a bit more interesting than any potential Kevin Costner Pa Kent would ever be. That's not a big factor in Jor-El's favor, but the guy's gotta take pluses where he can.

The one and only Batgirl of Burnside is getting her own DC Icons action figure, complete with motorcycle and smartphone this November. That's it. That's the news. We can wrap it up. I could talk about the rest of the new DC Icons announced by DC Collectibles today (via IGN), but then I wouldn't be able to get in my car to drive to Los Angeles and grab this figure from the production room while all of the DC Collectibles employees are at Toy Fair this weekend. I consider myself a patient man, but I can't wait until November for this. Batgirl was just one of six new figures announced for the Icons line, as well as two accessory packs to add even more Easter egg mayhem to these figures. Technically I guess you would count Grail as a seventh figure even though she's part of a two-pack with Darkseid, but you get what I'm saying. Right?

DC Collectibles Announces New Harley Quinn Figure Series
Have you had your fill of Harley Quinn? Too bad. This train has left the station at warp speed and will continue to run until it reaches the far end of the cosmos, and even alien races are converted to the Church of Quinn. Since spinning off on her own in the rebooted DC Universe, Harley's been an unstoppable juggernaut. Though she's been getting action figures fairly regularly, Harley's never been the star of her own toy line. That ends this October. DC Collectibles announced the new Harley Quinn toy line ahead of Toy Fair (via Vulture), and gave a glimpse into the first wave of figures you can expect this fall. The line features designs from current Harley Quinn writer and cover artist Amanda Connor, with several of the figures paying tribute to looks Ms. Quinn has donned in her solo series. It's almost like DC is banking on Harley Quinn blowing up even more after her appearance in Suicide Squad this August. I'm not even sure it's possible for the villain-turned-hero-turned-not-quite-so-good-but-also-not-a-bad-person to get more popular, but hey, it's Harley's world, we just live in it.

Though the past few months have been filled with Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad collectible news, DC Collectibles hasn't forgotten about one the greatest toy lines it ever developed. Though it's not been without its issues here and there, the Batman: The Animated Series figure line from DC Collectibles has been a hit for both the company and fans. Though most of this year's releases are already on schedule, DC's seen fit to tease a bit of what's to come in late 2016 and early 2017 ahead of Toy Fair. The reveal comes courtesy of USA Today, where DC Collectibles dished on some brilliant new additions to the expanding line, which will now also include Batman Beyond in the mix alongside B:TAS and The New Batman Adventures. Both Terry and Bruce, along with Ace, will make up the Batman Beyond box set ($50) in January 2017. While that's a long time to wait, it is perfectly timed with a certain writer's birthday, so I tip my hat to DC Collectibles for thinking of me so far in advance.

The Suicide Squad Strikes a Pose for DC Collectibles New Statues
For the past few months, DC Collectibles has been hinting at a series of statues based on the Suicide Squad coming out later this summer. However, the solicitations from DC Comics' toy and statue department have been absent any actual pictures of the inmates from Belle Reve that sign up for a mission that may very well kill them. With the release of the new trailer however, the floodgates have opened, and DC's finally given the Suicide Squad their due. Six of the Suicide Squad's members will be getting high-end statues from DC Collectibles, all of which were revealed for the first time by USA Today. All feature actor likenesses and the costumes they don during what I'm assuming is the latter half of the film after all their origins are divulged, they have a big training sequence, and they band together to take on the massive, mysterious threat Amanda Waller throws them up against.
