Q: Why is Doctor Doom the gold standard of supervillains? -- @franzferdinand2
A: In case you missed it a few weeks back, I wrote a column about the differences between Lex Luthor and the Joker, and mentioned that while those are two characters I like an awful lot, Dr. Doom is far and away the gold standard of supervillainy. He's compelling, he's sinister, he's got a great design that's lasted, virtually unchanged, for 50 years, and he can be dropped into almost any type of story and work beautifully. In short, he's the single greatest villain in superhero comics history.
Well, unless you count Bob Kane, but that's a whole other thing.
We've known the lineup of the titular Fantastic Four from the upcoming movie for almost two months now, but people have been guessing for some time who would play the team's arch-nemesis, Victor von Doom.
Rumors that Dr. Doom could have been a woman have turned out to just be rumors. Variety reports that 20th Century Fox has cast Toby Kebbell, who has played roles in Prince of Persia, War Horse, Wrath of the Titans and Ridley Scott's The Counselor, will be the new movie version of the masked supervillain.
I really loved LEGO Batman and the sequel that brought in the rest of the DC Universe, so I've been looking forward to their take on the Marvel superheroes since the game was announced. Now, as we draw ever closer to the game's release this fall, we're getting a few more details about the plot and story ofLEGO Marvel Super Heroes with a video that introduces you to the villains of the story. Dr. Doom, Hydra, Arnim Friggin' Zola, and, biggest and baddest of all, Galactus, the Devourer of Worlds.
Okay, yes, this is the least surprising surprise reveal in history (and one that's pretty easy to recreate with real-life LEGO sets just by wearing a purple hat and stomping around the house), but it's still pretty awesome. Check out the video and a few new screenshots below!

On the big list of things I like an awful lot, Spider-Man, Dr. Doom and Jem and the Holograms are three entries you'll find pretty close to the top. I love those things, so you can imagine how thrilled I was when Dyl
