I didn't make it out to the theater to see TheAmazing Spider-Man 2 this weekend -- I had some crucial paint drying that needed to be watched -- but all the hype surrounding it actually did make me want to go back and read some classic Spider-Man stories. The only question was which one would have everything that I wanted, which was pretty tricky since I've only really seen Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone lately thanks to their appearances on The Tonight Show.
But then I found one of the all-time classics, Amazing Spider-Man #89, the one where Spider-Man has to go to the laundromat with a bag on his head because he's trying to get money by appearing as a guest on a talk show. It's even got Electro in it -- although I don't think any of the other 83 villains from the movie make an appearance.
Snipers, amirite? Every time you try to try to talk down some unstable smurf-looking dude with the power to blow up Times Square while wearing a luchador-like Spider suit, they think it's their place to intervene. Take the shot? More like take a hike! Poor Peter Parker's just gotta put up with their usual antics while meeting Electro for the first time in the latest The Amazing Spider-Man 2 clip.
While it mostly consists of familiar trailer footage until about the 1:30 mark, Sony's new The Amazing Spider-Man 2 does deliver on its 3-minute "Rise of Electro" title thereafter. You can see a very blue Jamie Foxx tear up Times Square after the jump.
Thanks to Wal-Mart Canada, fans can finally scope out next year's Marvel Super Heroes sets from LEGO. In the mix are sets that seem to sit nicely with the upcoming Marvel multimedia slate, including three Ultimate Spider-Man sets, and two Avengers Assemble sets. Sure, they're technically based on Disney XD's current two Marvel cartoons, but there's a prominent Electro minifigure ripe for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie release this summer. Perhaps best of all, though, is the reveal of LEGO MODOK. Take a look after the jump.
Last week, a few grainy pictures of a triptych promotional poster for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 popped up online, showing Spider-Man facing off against Electro, The Rhino and Green Goblin. Today, an official image of the poster was revealed via the film's Facebook page. Further, USA Today has a first look at a few promotional stills from the film, featuring the Wall Crawler taking on Electro, pulling a few signature athletic moves, and punching a truck or two. And all of this is the lead in to the likely release of the film's first trailer this week.
You can check out the poster, as well as the early stills, below.
