Ectoplasmic entities have much to fear from the toy world this year. Not only is LEGO introducing a massive new Ghostbusters set sometime in 2014, but Funko is rolling out a full line of 3.75" Pop! Vinyl figures. This May, an initial Ghostbusters lineup of Egon Spengler, Raymond Stantz and Peter Venkman will be busting a Slimer (with a righteous translucent base), plus an extra-tall 6" Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.
It was only a couple of days ago that we mentioned the campaign to get a full Wayne Manor/Batcave set produced by LEGO's Cuusoo program, and today, everyone's favorite building block manufacturers have announced what they're actually going to be putting into production. Following up on their Back to the Future DeLorean, we're going to be seeing a 30th Anniversary Ghostbusters set, complete with the Firehouse, ECTO-1 and the four Ghostbusters themselves!

There's plenty strange in the neighborhood this time of year and it looks like somebody in San Diego knew just who to call. A replica of the Ghostbusters' ride, The Ecto-1, was spotted tooling around SD's Gaslamp District today, the official first full day of Comic-Con. At least we assume it's a replica? Yelp says this city is ridiculously haunted, so maybe some cosplayers have started packing something closer to functioning proton packs? Or maybe these guys bought the modified 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor ambulance limo on eBay? Whatever the case, the guy at the wheel seemed quite happy to be cruising for spectres. As the home of an abundant assortment of licensed titles -- many of which popularized at one time or another in animation -- IDW's in a pretty good place to play up its ties to Saturday morning cartoons. This September, the publisher will play up this relationship in titles with direct ties to animation like Black Dynamite, Doctor Who, Ghostbusters, G.I. Joe A Real American Hero, Popeye Classics, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles New Animated Adventures and Transformers: More than Meets The Eye, but also Danger Girl, Judge Dredd, T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents and... The X-Files? Hit the jump to see September's full line of "IDW Gets Animated" alternate covers.
