By the end of 2014, it might be tough to name a comics publisher that hasn't offered up a Humble Bundle deal.
Oni Press is the latest publisher to join the ranks of the Humble Bundle crowd (others include Top Shelf, Valiant Comics, and Boom Studios), though it's put a bit of a spin on its offering of 24 titles and more than 2,500 pages of comics. Buyers can choose to donate the proceeds from their purchase to the charity Direct Relief, an organization helping to treat and contain the Ebola outbreak in Africa, among other humanitarian causes.
The first six serialized issues of Helheim by writer Cullen Bunn, artist Joëlle Jones, colorist Nick Filardi and letterer Ed Brisson wrapped up in August, but Oni Press has good news for all you trade-waiters out there. Helheim Volume 1: The Witch War will collect the full series into a single trade paperback this March, wrapping it all in a brand new battle-worn cover. In January comic book and graphic novel publisher Oni Press will relaunch its website as a new webcomics hub, featuring free comics every week day. The material will include at least two brand new serials a week and a mixture of previously published comics. After the serials conclude they will be released in print as graphic novels. This long-in-the-works initiative was made official at Friday's Oni Press panel at New York Comic Con, where Editor-in-Chief James Lucas Jones spoke more about the publisher's new projects from creators including Cullen Bunn, Joëlle Jones, Joe Harris, Brian Churilla... and Chris Sims.
