He’s the best there is at what he does. And what he does is make gritty spinoff X-Men movies.

How about one more quick update on Logan before the end of the day? Following our first look at Hugh Jackman’s return as the older, more hardened hero, the actor has debuted a new teaser for his final outing as Wolverine. Oh, and by the way, the first official trailer drops tomorrow, so while this teaser is very short (but effective), just know that there’s a whole lot more where that came from.
New teaser images from Logan have been released daily for the past couple of weeks, and while we’ve gotten sneak peeks at the film’s setting and first looks at new characters, there’s one that’s been glaringly absent: The titular hero himself. That changed today, as director James Mangold shared our first look at Hugh Jackman’s return for the upcoming Wolverine sequel — which, as you know, will be his final outing in the X-Men franchise.
With the sheer volume of photos and teaser images that have dropped over the past two weeks, I’m starting to think that the cast and crew of Logan have decided to release their teaser trailer one still photo at a time. After all, we had months of radio silence on the production, but now director James Mangold and star Hugh Jackman seem determined to give us a slew of images to puzzle over. If we take everything and string it all together, does a teaser trailer emerge? Someone other than me should definitely get on that.
There’s been quite a bit of movement on the Logan front over the past week or so, with the release of an official poster, new plot details, photos and more from the upcoming Wolverine sequel. The latest sneak peek comes in the form of another one of those mysterious black-and-white Instagram updates, along with some new storyboards teasing what looks to be a pretty wild action scene involving Hugh Jackman’s hero.
After months and months of silence, the next Wolverine movie Logan is suddenly giving us new bits of informations by the day. We’ve learned that big bad Mister Sinister was confirmed a while back, and that Boyd Holbrook is playing Donald Pierce, the nefarious creator of the Reavers, relentless cyborgs engineered to hunt down mutants. Now, a new tidbit has surfaced: the name of the person whose hand is holding Hugh Jackman’s in the film’s official poster.
We already know that one of the villains in the upcoming Wolverine sequel is Mister Sinister, aka Nathaniel Essex, whose arrival was teased in the X-Men: Apocalypse post-credits scene. But what about the film’s other villain, played by Narcos star Boyd Holbrook? Thanks to another new image from Logan, we have our first look at Holbrook’s character — and a name to go along with it.
Well Hugh Jackman did say there was some stuff about Wolverine 3 coming “in the next week or so.” He is a mutant of his word! The Movie Formerly Referred to as Wolverine 3 has an official title, unveiled by Jackman himself on his Twitter account:
The third and, as far as anyone’s saying, final installment in Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine movies is coming out a mere six months form now, but so far everything about it has remained a mystery. We know that Jackman is in it, but we don’t know a whole lot more than that, aside from a possible R rating. We’re bound to get more news soon, but for now Jackman himself is the only one giving us any clues as to what his next movie will be like.
The Wolverine 3 (or 2, if we’re ignoring X-Men: Origins, and we should) hits theaters in about six months, which means we should be seeing a teaser trailer…well, any day now, really. Rest assured, director James Mangold is working hard to deliver the first footage from the upcoming sequel, but until then, Bryan Singer has confirmed a major X-Men villain for Hugh Jackman’s final outing as the iconic superhero.
