Even Ultron Can’t Ruin the Awesomeness of the Lego Avengers Tower

Lego Marvel Super Heroes Attack on Avengers Tower

This week sees the release of new Lego Marvel Super Hero sets tying into Avengers: Age of Ultron. While we're still waiting for the SHIELD Helicarrier to arrive, the series did drop a quinjet, a Hulkbuster, and a mini-Avengers Tower, among others, onto store shelves. Having been out of the Lego game for almost two decades, these were the sets that were going to bring me back into the fold. It was mighty hard to resist the quinjet set, but if there's one thing my house is missing, and that I could no longer live without, it's an Avengers Tower.

Lego’s Fabled SHIELD Helicarrier is Real, and it’s Spectacular

For what seems like an eternity, Lego and Marvel fans alike have been looking forward to the brickmaker's take on SHIELD's iconic mobile headquarters, the Helicarrier. After years of waiting, the dream came true. This March, Lego will release a massive scale replica of the high-flying fortress, complete with the world's first ever Maria Hill mini-figure.

Coming in at just under 3,000 pieces (2,996 to be exact), the Lego SHIELD Helicarrier isn't just going to be a beast to put together, at 31 inches long, 17 inches wide, and 11 inches tall, it's also going to be one of the largest Lego sets in the Marvel Super Hero Line (though it's still a bit smaller than the Lego Super Star Destroyer from Star Wars). It should be noted, the Helicarrier being released is going to be based on the first Avengers film, and not Avengers: Age of Ultron. However, the mini-figures included are all based on the costumes Black Widow, Captain America, Hawkeye, Nick Fury and Maria Hill are wearing in the latest film. And yes, you read that right; there will be two female figures included, even if it will cost you $349.99 to get them.

Wonder Woman’s Invisible Jet Finally Gets its Lego Due

Lego

Lego's DC Comics Super Heroes line has been cranking out the blocky jams for a few years. In all that time, we've gotten plenty of random Bat-jets and Luthor mechs, but not one single invisible jet. That drought ends now. Due to arrive on New Year's Day, Gorilla Grodd Goes Bananas, a new DC Comics Super Heroes Lego set, will feature Wonder Woman and her invisible jet. Also, Gorilla Grodd, the Flash, Captain Cold, a banana truck driver, and of course, Batman.

Lego Age of Ultron

‘LEGO Batman V. Superman’ Fan Film Is The Only Dark Knight/Man Of Steel Fight You’ll Ever Need

BatmanVSuperman

We're still over a year away from the big-screen debut of the amazingly titled Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, in which your two favorite DC Comics heroes will be v-ing each other alongside other members of the Justice League, and maybe getting around to fighting an actual supervillain somewhere in hour three, if they have time. If you can't wait, though, I have some good news: BrickNerd Studios has brought you a short film in which the LEGO counterparts of the Dark Knight and the Man of Steel slug it out in brutal combat... for... some reason.

I'm not overselling things when I say that this is the best possible version of this fight that you're likely to see onscreen, and that Hollywood's going to have a hard time topping it in 2016.

‘LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham’ Offers Familiar Fun And Lots Of Lanterns [Review]

lego-batman-3_justiceleague_01

If you've played one of the previous two LEGO Batman games, or really any of developer Traveller's Tales LEGO games, there's a certain degree of knowing what you're getting into with LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham. Though it certainly has a new coat of paint on it, so to speak, many of the mechanics and gameplay objectives are the same as they've always been.

The developers make up for that by giving players more of everything: playable characters, levels, collectibles, power-ups, costumes side quests, Easter eggs and locations. Mix that more-is-more mentality with an enduring charm and sense of humor, and you've got a pretty compelling package, albeit one that tends to bring out some of my worst tendencies as a player.
