Fashion brand Shoes of Prey used its customizable design website to style some superhero-inspired heels and flats as examples of footwear that customers can tweak and purchase for themselves with the Shoes of Prey 3D Designer, which gives the wearer selection of colors, materials, and alter various detailing parameters such as heel height, toe and heel detailing.. Each pair of shoes is handmade to fit the customer's chosen aesthetics and run at least $100 per pair.
As a fan of both Shoes of Prey and comics, customer Mandy Kerr designed some heels and flats inspired by Batman, Iron Man, and more (seen in the grahguc below). Inspired by Kerr's excellent Robin-inspired oxfords, I utilized the Shoes of Prey 3D Designer to create a few of my own shoe designs, including flats and platformed wedges inspired by Wonder Woman, Captain Marvel, Batwoman, and more.
In tonight's Agents of SHIELD: Sif happens. Yes, for the first time since the Nick Fury cameo in episode two, an actual non-Coulson-shaped major character from the Marvel Studios movies makes an appearance! Everything's going to be great from now on!
Actually, despite claims from some corners of fandom that viewers will never be happy with Agents of SHIELD until Iron Man appears in every episode, I never expected Iron Man to appear, nor did I ever ask for it, and I'm surprised to see Sif in an episode. The main thing I ever wanted from this show was some decent TV. So, I'm grateful for Lady Sif, but let's see how this episode fares on the other front.
Outside of one Samuel L. Jackson appearance as Nick Fury back in the TV show's second episode and Cobie Smulders popping up as Maria Hill, fans of Marvel's movie characters haven't seen a lot of cameos on ABC's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
They'll get a treat in the series' 15th episode, however, when Lady Sif, portrayed by Thor and Thor: The Dark Worldactress Jaimie Alexander, will make an appearance.
Confession: we have no idea what the holiday season is like in Asgard. Fortunately, we now have evidence that they fully embrace the holiday spirit in the best possible way. Jaimie Alexander, who plays Sif in Thor and Thor: The Dark World, made a surprise visit to the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles and spent time with some of the kids there, many of whom won't be able to spend Thanksgiving at home. Dressed in full Sif regalia, Alexander brought gifts, signed autographs and took pictures with the kids as they held her sword and shield.
If, like us, you were already of the opinion that both Thor films could use a lot more Sif screen time, this is just one more reason to appreciate both the character and the actress. You can check out a bunch of pictures from Alexander's visit below, and if you'd like to help these kids, head to the Children’s Hospital website. You can also participate in the Conan O’Brien hosted Crowdrise Celebrity Holiday Challenge.
Based on the Asgardian war goddess devised by comic book creators Jack Kirby and Stan Lee, Lady Sif emerged from 2011's Thor motion picture as something of a breakout character, with fans complaining that the charismatic performer Jamie Alexander didn't get enough screen time and asking that she star in a spinoff of her own. Marvel Studios seems to have listened, with early reports indicating the character's role has been beefed up in the sequel, Thor: The Dark World. In addition to her typical ass-kicking duties, Sif will supposedly become a romantic rival to whoever that earthling doctor or whatever Natalie Portman plays is. Obviously Lady Sif could win any sort of contest under literally any circumstance, so it's safe to assume Portman's character will just, like, go back to wherever they hid her in Avengers and let the third movie be about Sif and Thor punching astro-orcs and making out as space lighting crashes romantically in the distance.
Taking the reigns from Kieron Gillen after his departure was certainly going to be a challenge. Starting in April 2011 Gillen spent over a year on Journey into Mystery, until his highly regarded run on the series came to an end this fall. Kathryn
