141A2827

NECA's 1/4 scale superhero movie figures have a sizable presence at the toymaker's Comic-Con booth this year. In addition to the Batman '66 and Batman '89 figures that were initially shown at Toy Fair being displayed with their upcoming accessories, NECA also debuted its Avengers Thor and battle-damaged Iron Man, plus a Man of Steel Superman. All five figures stand 18 or so inches tall and feature unique accessories and, in the case of the caped crowd, some cloth costumery.

DC Entertainment’s Diane Nelson On Green Lantern, Wonder Woman And Vertigo Films: ‘Sandman Is Right On Top’

Untitled-2

Diane Nelson is rolling into San Diego's Comic-Con with some real momentum thanks to the enormous commercial success of Warner Bros. Pictures' Man of Steel film directed by Zack Snyder. By all accounts the hit film based on Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster's Superman character has galvanized the DC Entertainment division, which Nelson leads as President, and everybody wants to know what's next for the company. To that end, Nelson sat down with The Hollywood Reporter in an interview that focused mainly on DC's Hollywood prospects (no news on Man of Steel 2, although an announcement is rumored to come later this weekend in San Diego), with Nelson confirming her wish list of properties to make the jump to the big and small screens, addressing concerns about Wonder Woman and the future of Vertigo.

Exclusive Arrow, Spider-Woman And More Lego Minifigures Coming To SDCC 2013

LEGO
LEGO

There are a lot of toy fairs and expos every year, but over the past few summers, LEGO's managed to save up something new just for San Diego Comic-Con. In 2011, LEGO revealed its first ever batch of Marvel and DC Comics minifigures, followed by an even bigger set of minifig debuts at last year's show. The brickmaker is sure to roll out even more new products when SDCC opens this week, but attendees can do one better than simply seeing new sets if they can grab any of the four exclusive figures LEGO will be giving away this week at booth 2829. Arrow (from the same-titled CW series), Spider-Woman, a new version of Spider-Man and an all-black Man of Steel style Superman will all be on hand in limited quantities.

Hot Toys Hones In On ‘Man Of Steel’ Jor-El

hottoysjorel

Not going to lie. I was a little worried about Russell Crowe playing Superman's dad Jor-El after seeing him in a decent chunk of The Man With The Iron Fists, but he turned out to do just fine in Man of Steel. I guess acting alongside a CGI alien dragon horse thing brings out the best in a former Gladiator? Hot Toys seems to have dug him too, revealing an upcoming 1/6 scale Jor-El figure bearing a spot-on Crowe likeness and rocking killer Kryptonian garb, alternate hands and a stylized space rifle.

‘Super Boy Of Steel’: On My Planet, ‘JR’ Stands For ‘Bootleg iPhone App’

SuperBoy01

I didn't really care for Man of Steel, but I'll admit that I made one huge mistake when I saw it. I was so blinded by my feelings about the movie itself, that I forgot to focus on the true magic that always happens when a new blockbuster superhero movie comes out: the magic of hilariously copyright-infringing iPhone apps. They always put a smile on my face and a spring in my step, but I hadn't even gone to look until CA editor Caleb Goellner sent over a link to A Super Boy Of Steel Run Free.

And folks, it is a doozy.
