Check Out The First Half-Hour Of The New ‘Arkham Origins’ DLC, ‘Cold, Cold Heart’ [Video]

Batman Arkham Origins Cold Cold Heart DLC

Remember how a big chunk of the game map was frozen and icy in Arkham City? The new DLC for Batman: Arkham Origins"Cold, Cold Heart" extends that idea a bit, with the ice seemingly extending throughout the city as Penguin and Mr. Freeze terrorize the landscape on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC (but not the Wii) on April 22.

A leaked video reveals the first half hour of the DLC, the first Arkham DLC that actually adds single-player, storyline-driven gameplay instead of challenge packs and multiplayer maps. Much of it takes place in Wayne Manor as Bruce Wayne charges to the Batcave to pick up his batsuit. (Another toyetic iceproof costume shows up later.)

San Francisco Make-a-Wish

If you want to kick off your weekend with some nice news that might just make you cry a little bit, you're in luck: Today in San Francisco, the Make-A-Wish foundation is helping a five year-old cancer patient named Miles live out a wish to become Batman. Thanks to the overwhelming support of volunteers, they've been able to send Miles on an adventure of rescuing citizens, battling supervillains and even getting the key to the city in an effort to give him the best day ever.

Even the San Francisco Chronicle has gotten into the act, printing a Gotham City Chronicle special edition that details Batkid's adventures, with stories by Clark Kent, Lois Lane, Brenda Starr and Perry White, apparently on loan to the West Coast from the Daily Planet. Check out the full page below, and get ready to awwww.

Bizarro Back Issues: Here’s That Joker-Batman Team-Up To Solve The Penguin’s Murder You’ve Always Wanted (1982)

Brave and the Bold #191, DC Comics

A couple weeks ago when I was writing about why the Penguin has never been one of my favorite Batman villains, I mentioned one of my earliest favorite comics: An issue of The Brave and the Bold that was nominally a Penguin story, but was more focused on the Joker. The main point then was that the Penguin was kind of a bit player even in one of his own stories, but the more I thought about it, the more I thought that there might be some subtle nuances to this story that would be worth a closer examination.

There aren't. I mean, it's a mid-80s issue of Brave and the Bold, and those things are about as subtle as a brick upside the head. But it is a pretty great issue, and as an added bonus, it features a handy guide to everything you should not do if you're running a business in Gotham City.

Mattel Multiverse Batman Superman Penguin Main

Fan-favorite DC movies are getting the 4" action figure treatment from Mattel next year as part of the new Multiverse line. First among the films receiving figures will be 1978's Superman with a figure bearing the likeness of actor Christopher Reeve and a Batman 1989 figure featuring an alternate "Bruce Wayne" head bearing actor Michael Keaton's likeness. Villains will be joining the fray as well with Batman Returns versions of Catwoman (based on actress Michelle Pfeiffer) and Penguin (Danny DeVito) and Superman 2's Zod (Terence Stamp) set to roll out alongside the heroes. Batman and Zod were shown with movie-centric accessories, so it's safe to assume Superman, Catwoman and Penguin will all be packed with appropriate items when the time comes. Check out all five of Mattel's 4" Multiverse movie action figures shown at NYCC 2013, after the jump.
