It’s the most wonderful time of the year. With the kids jingle belling, and everyone telling you Deadpool is near. Yes, it’s the most wonderful time of the year: the 12 Days of Deadpool.

If you had “New Deadpool Trailer” on your Christmas wish list, you can go ahead and tell Santa (or whoever) not to worry about it because the Merc With a Mouth has got it all taken care of. 20th Century Fox will debut a new, full-length trailer for the R-rated comic book movie on Christmas Day, giving us the gift of one very profane superhero.

To celebrate both Halloween and the upcoming release of Deadpool, Ryan Reynolds put back on his superhero costume, and hit the streets on Halloween, meeting up with a bunch of trick-or-treaters dressed up as the X-Men. The Merc With the Mouth tried to recruit these pint-sized mutants to join his Halloween team, but it didn’t quite go according to plan.

The tide of Deadpool images and promotional materials has slowed down to a bit of a trickle, which may be a good thing considering that the film doesn’t even hit theaters until February — and we’ve already seen so, so much from it. But 20th Century Fox has released a new, very cool image today, featuring the Merc With a Mouth flying through the air like an action hero badass.

Though Ajax (Ed Skrien) is the villain in Deadpool, he doesn’t have the name recognition of some of the other superhero movies. He’s not Ultron or Dr. Doom or Green Goblin or Joker or even Apocalypse. He’s, frankly, a character most audiences won’t know. While this movie might have a largely unrecognizable villain, expect that to change in Deadpool 2 as a major Marvel character will be facing off against the Merc With a Mouth.

Ryan Reynolds dropped by Conan tonight to debut the red band trailer for Deadpool — because if you’re going to give Deadpool a proper introduction, you’re going to do so with a respectable amount of violence and profanity. After months of promising an R-rated, faithful adaptation of beloved comic book character, Reynolds seems to be delivering.

We normally like to steer clear of the “trailer for a trailer” phenomena that results in photos of a 6-second Instagram video of a 15-second YouTube video teaser of an actual trailer. It’s a toxic fad in the world of movie promotion and one we hope goes away quickly, but we couldn’t resist sharing this trailer for a trailer for Deadpool. For one, it’s almost a minute long, and for another, it’s just funny.

Although 20th Century Fox never released the Deadpool footage screened at Comic-Con, Ryan Reynolds assured fans that we’d see the first footage in a few weeks. And now we know exactly when and where we’ll get to see that footage, as not one, but two official Deadpool trailers will drop next week.

During Comic-Con, we got a peek at non-Deadpool characters from Deadpool via the film’s cast on Twitter. If you were hoping to see larger, better, more official versions of those photos — you’re in luck. 20th Century Fox has released a batch of high-res photos featuring the Merc With a Mouth and his supporting cast.

If you were hoping that the kind, generous souls at 20th Century Fox might officially release that Deadpool footage from Comic-Con, you should probably keep holding your breath. But we do have some good news: the first official Deadpool trailer will arrive in three weeks, according to Ryan Reynolds.
