Relive Wolverine's First Appearance With Sideshow's New Statue
To say Wolverine's comics debut was run of the mill is a tad offensive to all those mills out there, running. It wasn't until he was added to the roster of the X-Men that Wolverine gained any kind of status in the Marvel Universe, let alone among fans. Still, the Canadian mutant's history can all be traced back to his one-off appearance in the Incredible Hulk in 1974, and as such, the Hulk and Wolverine have been tethered to one another throughout their histories. The battle between the pint-sized pugilist and the green goliath has been well-documented in a number of mediums, but never before have we seen artist Ariel Olivetti capture it. Nor have we seen him capture it in statue form. Until now!

You can't walk into a comic shop without tripping over one of Deadpool's comics. Whether he's the star, the guest-star, the co-star, the shooting star, or on the cover of Star Magazine, Deadpool is kind of a big deal. To be fair, if Deadpool didn't move the needle, he wouldn't be in a hojillion books at once. He also wouldn't get cool action figures if he was a total dork-o. Fortunately for him, and now possibly you, that's not the case. Yes, we're having another one of our bursts of generosity, and you could be the sole benefactor. This time, we're giving away one of Sideshow Collectibles' tip-top Deadpool figures, and you won't even have to break any walls for a chance to win.

Hot Toys' Star Wars Rogue One Death Trooper Specialist Reports for Duty
Oh, you didn't know? Like Hot Toys wasn't going to have new figures from Rogue One to show off during this most revealing of weeks for Star Wars toys. Of course, like The Force Awakens before it, we're being teased with Imperial forces before we're getting a glimpse at the actual Rebel stars of the film. This week, Hot Toys unveiled the first of what are sure to be numerous Death Trooper figures in its upcoming Star Wars Rogue One line-up. The Specialist comes fully stocked with all the tools he'll need to eliminate the Rebel forces, and has that snazzy new black armor to boot.

Sideshow's Sixth-Scale Deadpool Debut is a Marvel Masterpiece [Review]
No stranger to Marvel Comics or sixth-scale figures, it's a wonder it's taken so long for Sideshow Collectibles to launch an exclusive series of characters that mix both of those worlds. The Sideshow Marvel sixth-scale collection will feature a number of characters, like Wolverine and the Punisher, but kicked off earlier this year with everyone's favorite neighborhood mercenary, Deadpool. Based on Sideshow's own concept, rooted more in the comic world than the cinematic one, Deadpool invokes a number of incarnations to arrive at a singular vision. He still falls prey to some of Sideshow's signature figure flaws, but has great detail, loads of accessories, and is an excellent start for the Marvel line.
Sideshow's Killer Croc Looks Great for a Monster

Sideshow's Killer Croc Looks Great for a Monster
Growing up, my knowledge of Killer Croc came exclusively from Batman: The Animated Series. Even today, that version of the character, more human than monster, stands as the one true Croc in my head. He's gone through a number of revisions in the comics, some more reptilian than others, but none have ever struck the same chord of balance between Croc's humanity and his animalistic side. Sideshow Collectibles' latest premium format figure does just that. We got a tease of the Killer Croc statue at San Diego Comic-Con, but this finished prototype of Batman's sewer-dwelling rogue is a fantastic work of art. Not only does it capture the monstrous elements quite well, it also has a bit of that outcast quality that makes Croc a somewhat sympathetic character.

Sideshow Brings Everything and the Kitchen Sink to SDCC 2016
Every San Diego Comic-Con, Sideshow rolls out the blue carpet for its vast catalog. Though the booth is massive year after year, SDCC 2016 was a special exception to the rule. Not only was Sideshow's booth tremendously large, it was packed to the gills with new original statues, premium format figures and sixth-scale characters, along with licensed distribution partners like Hot Toys and Prime 1 Studio. There was more pop culture amazingness in one square foot of Sideshow's booth than there is at most minor conventions held throughout the year. Recounting what was there won't be an easy task, but it will be fun to revisit all the new hotness and dream of a world where we could afford any of it. From statues to 1/6 scale figures, you'd have an easier time telling someone what Sideshow Collectibles didn't have at its booth at this year's San Diego Comic-Con.

Hot Toys' Resistance Rey Reaches Out for Some Attention
The first Rey figure from Hot Toys isn't even actually out yet, and already the company is lining up the next iteration of the newly beloved Star Wars hero. Though Rey spends almost the entirety of The Force Awakens in her desert scavenger couture, she opts to change into attire better suited for a Resistance fighter at the conclusion of the film. This outfit doesn't get nearly enough screen time (at least in Ep. VII), but it definitely rocks. Whether or not that means it's worth shelling out another $200+ for... ehhhh?
Hot Toys Lets the Suicide Squad Joker Out of Arkham Asylum

Hot Toys Lets the Suicide Squad Joker Out of Arkham Asylum
Despite not being an actual member of the Suicide Squad, the first Hot Toys figure from the upcoming film adaptation is none other than the Joker. Sure he plays a part, but just how large nobody can say for sure. We do know he's not one of the bigger pieces in the play, but his cameos throughout the film are clearly enough to generate more interest than the rest of the actual Squad members that star in the movie. At last insofar as Hot Toys is concerned. What's most curious about this Toy Fairs exclusive (Hot Toys' series of yearly convention offerings) is how specific it is, and how limited it is. And I don't mean the availability. I mean it's a really limited figure in how it can be posed. Sure, there supposedly 30 points of articulation hidden in there, but with the straitjacket constricting him, there isn't a whole lot this Joker can do. It's a pretty good Jared Leto though, so there is that.

Sideshow's Black Canary Statue Brings the Sound and the Fury
San Diego Comic-Con is mere weeks away, but Sideshow Collectibles just doesn't have the patience to keep its new Black Canary premium format figure under wraps any longer. It's curious that even Sideshow couldn't keep quiet as Dinah herself requests, but who could really blame them? When Stanley Lau and Kris Anka come together to design a statue of one of the baddest Birds of Prey around, you gotta do what the heart wants --- even if it means being on the business end of a Canary Cry. Black Canary is the latest DC hero to be immortalized in Sideshow's premium format series, joining the likes of Wonder Woman, Supergirl and Power Girl. More importantly, she also joins fellow Bird of Prey, Batgirl. And not to distract from Dinah's moment here, but in her official prototype photos, Sideshow also intimates Huntress is on the way. Yes, by the end of 2017, you might be able to recruit the core members of DC's Birds of Prey... provided you've got a total of $1500 to spare.

Hot Toys Goes Back to the Iron Man 3 Well for Its Latest 1/4 Scale Figure
Who has more Iron Man armors, Tony Stark or Hot Toys? With this latest entry in the Hot Toys' quarter-scale line, the Hong Kong company is certainly trying to go toe-to-toe with Tony Stark's very own Hall of Armor. We're well beyond the half-century mark with regards to the number of Iron Man pieces in Hot Toys' catalog, and that's only counting the actual sixth- and quarter-scale figures. We might be approaching nearly 100 different figures if we start throwing in the Cosbaby and Artist Mix lines as well. But I've since come to embrace Hot Toys' Iron Man favoritism. Iron Man sells, and if putting out another half-dozen Tony Stark figures over the course of the next year means we'll get more interesting characters from other licenses, so be it. It's not like they're bad figures either. This Iron Man 3 MK XLII is pretty damn impressive, even if it's a suit that's been done a few hundred times by Hot Toys and a number of other toy companies.
