DC Collectibles Shows Off Its Icons, Wonder Woman, and More [Toy Fair 2017]
Before we all left to enjoy the weekend, DC Collectibles spoiled us with a number of preview images of its numerous Toy Fair reveals. Seeing new Justice League statues, DC Icons figures and more Batman: The Animated Series collectibles was great, but there's nothing like seeing them in person to really get the full effect. We soaked all the details in when we visited with DC Collectibles, and this year and beyond look to carry the momentum built up during the later half of 2016.

This year at Toy Fair, Mattel once again lifted the curtain on a number of new figures and collectibles based in the DC Universe. From the continuing DC Multiverse figure line, which mixes the comics, television and movie properties, to DC Super Hero Girls and Teen Titans Go!, there was little that Mattel showed that didn't elicit excitement from everyone in attendance. However, the biggest surprise was clearly the unveiling of the Wonder Woman DC Multiverse wave, which gave us our first clear look at the DC Cinematic Universe version of Ares.

There’s just a few months left until Wonder Woman hits theaters, which means it’s time for Warner Bros. to get down to the business of promoting the crap out of this movie. When I saw Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in theaters, the crowd greeted her character during the climactic fight scene with wild cheers and applause, suggesting to me that audiences are ready to embrace the first standalone superhero movie. We’ve had the first two rounds of movie trailers; now it’s time to open the floodgates on teasers, TV spots, and production rumors. Let the games begin!

Ev-furry-body's Got One: Nine Furry Comics Crushes
If comics has taught us anything, it’s that anything can be illustrated, and if the internet has taught us anything, it’s that anything can be someone’s turn-on. Comics and furries go hand in hand, dating back farther than living memory, with modern furry fandom a direct multigenerational outgrowth of funny animal comics and cartoons. It’s Love and Sex Week here at ComicsAlliance, so we've decided to do our part to destigmatize furries, because we believe that everyone has at least one furry crush, whether it's the stars of Disney's Robin Hood, a Thundercat, or the stars of Disney's Zootopia. (We see you, Disney.) To that end, here are nine of our most animalistic passions from the world of comics.

Comics' Sexiest Female Characters (From A Queer Perspective)
The problem with "sexiest women in comics" lists is that they tend to get wrapped up in the presumptive male gaze and the assumption of a male readership. Basically, you end up with a bunch of sexist ideas about what men want women to be. So we wondered, what would such a list look like if the male gaze was taken out of the equation? We gathered some of our queer female and non-binary writers to nominate, vote for, and write up our own list of the hottest female characters in comics, from a queer perspective.

The Kinkiest Moments In Golden Age 'Wonder Woman' Comics
Everybody knows that Golden Age Wonder Woman can be pretty kinky. In fact, people joke about it constantly. After all, credited Wonder Woman writer William Moulton Marston was collaborating on the stories with his two wives, Elizabeth Holloway and Olive Byrne, and they were all known to be into some stuff that went far beyond their polyamory. And whether artist Harry G. Peter was in on the implications of what he was drawing or not, he gave it his all. So in a spirit of openness and positivity, we've dug through the first five years or so of Wonder Woman comics in search of kink. And if anybody had doubts, the kink is definitely there.

You cannot find a more important woman in comics than Wonder Woman. She's the first to get her own solo movie (that actually counts, Catwoman), and with that, comes all the benefits of merchandising tie-ins. Not that it's been a challenge to find Wonder Woman collectibles before this film, but now we're getting a whole new wave of figures, accessories more directly tied to her anticipated silver screen success. Mattel's already been on board the Wonder Woman train for a long time --- as it has been with all of DC's characters and properties --- but the company never invested in a full line based solely on the Amazon princess before. Ahead of the feature film, Mattel is going full Frozen with Wonder Woman, giving its star an action doll line all her own, and one that shows a terrific evolution of the DC Super Hero Girls line.

Ahead of Toy Fair 2017, Mezco held a special event for the media showcasing some of its upcoming products. Due to the weather on the east coast, we were unable to attend, but Mezco didn't want everyone to miss out on the sneak peeks offered at the exclusive event. Shortly after it ended, the toy manufacturer posted a number of teaser photos of some One:12 Collective figures coming in 2017 and beyond. While expected Batman and Wolverine toys were nice to see, it's the likes of Popeye and Doctor Strange that have us itching to get our hands on Mezco's planned products.
