“Shared universe” used to be a phrase that only got tossed around in comic book shops. It was the kind of phrase that would earn blank stares from the cool kids, often right before you were shoved into a locker. Now, all of those cool kids wear Avengers shirts and know that shared universes are the Next Big Thing in Hollywood, were sprawling franchises will tell various stories about various characters who happen to share the same world. This was popularized by Marvel Studios, but their arch-rival, 20th Century Fox, isn’t going to let them hog the spotlight. Oh, no. Director Bryan Singer has confirmed a rumor that’s been floating around for quite some time: the studio wants to spin-off the X-Men and the Fantastic Four into their own crossover movie.

20th Century Fox is finally releasing the Rogue Cut of X-Men: Days of Future Past next month, re-incorporating the scenes featuring Anna Paquin’s Rogue, which director Bryan Singer had to leave on the cutting room floor. Singer previously explained that the Rogue scenes were excised because they were “extraneous,” but that didn’t stop fans from wanting to see the alternate version. Fox has released a clip from the Rogue Cut to give you a little taste of what that version will look like.

We’ve known for some time now that Bryan Singer and Fox have been planning to release a “Rogue Cut” of X-Men: Days of Future Past, featuring 17 additional minutes of excised material — primarily Rogue’s plot, which had to be cut for time. Not only is there a DVD/Blu-ray release date for this alternate version of the film, but there’s also a theatrical release date, in case you’d like to experience it on the big screen.

Late last year we learned that Fox was planning to release a “Rogue Cut” of X-Men: Days of Future Past, which would include previously deleted footage of Anna Paquin’s Rogue, whose story arc had been removed from the film due to time constraints. “Rogue Cut” of ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ Will Finally Be Released in 2015

Not long before ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ hit theaters, we heard that Anna Paquin’s scenes as beloved mutant Rogue had been excised from the film due to time constraints. We also heard that the scenes featuring Rogue would have made for a slightly different viewing experience. Fox planned to release the deleted scenes and there was talk of releasing a “Rogue Cut” with Paquin’s scenes restored to the movie, but they were curiously absent from the DVD/Blu-ray versions of the film.
