Since Batman vs. Superman was first announced, many openly wondered how Batman, a dude with no discernible superpowers, would be able to fight Superman, a dude with ALL the superpowers, without getting completely destroyed rather quickly. Director Zack Snyder knows that’s on your mind and has a very simple answer for how Batman plans to even the playing field: he’s going to cheat.
As we’ve seen in the trailers for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (and as the title suggests), there’s going to be a whole lot of Batman v Superman as Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne is clearly not-very-okay with Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel and his superpowers. But what is it that sets Bruce off? A new interview with the stars of the film shines some light on this battle between heroes, while Affleck himself has confirmed that he may direct a solo Batman movie.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice doesn’t hit theaters until next March (if you can believe it), but we’ve already been inundated with so much marketing, including teasers, trailers, featurettes, photos, et al. Compare that to Disney’s approach with marketing Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and it seems like a lot — and here’s one more! But this latest feature is pretty interesting, as it gives us a closer look at the new costumes for Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman.
Somewhere, Alan Moore’s beard is tingling. Zack Snyder’s cinematic adaptation of the iconic Watchmen comics by Moore and Dave Gibbons divided fans, some sticking with assertions of the source material as “unfilmable,” others acknowledging the film’s effort. That conflict may end up sparked anew, now that Snyder has reportedly met with HBO for a Watchmen TV series.
There’s been a lot of uncertainty about the Man of Steel sequel — Mad Max: Fury Road director George Miller was rumored to be involved, but then more rumors started circulating suggesting that Warner Bros. has put Man of Steel 2 on hold for the time being, and the film doesn’t seem to have a place on the studio’s DC film schedule. According to Zack Snyder, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is basically a Man of Steel sequel, so you don’t need to really worry about it.
Last week Zack Snyder served Marvel a diss while discussing Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and reiterating that the film is very serious and mythological. Shots were effectively fired, and this week they’re being returned by Sebastian Stan, who serves a diss right back at Snyder and DC while talking up Winter Soldier’s role in Captain America: Civil War.
Earlier this week, Batman vs. Superman star Jesse Eisenberg said that their superhero movie would be “very serious” while alluding to Marvel and dropping a passive-aggressive dig on other “cartoonish” superhero movies. Today, Batman vs. Superman director Zack Snyder echoed that sentiment, but didn’t beat around the bush, mentioning Ant-Man by name and calling Marvel’s movie just a “flavor of the week”.
There have been a lot of Batman vs. Superman rumors floating around there on the internet. So far, we’ve heard rumors about Lex Luthor, Barbara Gordon, Doomsday, General Zod w/ Flipper Hands, The Joker, Jimmy Olsen and much more. But, none of those rumors are as ridiculous as the one Zack Snyder heard about Robin and he’s here to tell you it’s bulls——.
Just yesterday we got a new look at the Batmobile from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and today brings even more official photos from Zack Snyder’s upcoming superhero showdown. Among them you’ll find a furious Superman, a brooding Batman and a quite lovely Diana Prince, aka Wonder Woman.
With every new iteration of Batman comes not only a new costume and Batcave, but a brand new Batmobile for our hero’s nightly vigilante cruises around Gotham. We’ve gotten a few looks at Ben Affleck’s Batmobile via promotional images over the last few months, but Warner Bros. has now released another new, dramatic look at the vehicle from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
